Wasn’t the Unitarian shooting in Knoxville?
PING
Yes
One student dead. Prayers going up.
All of these school shooting-rampages have occurred since schools were made Gun-Free Zones!Arm at least some of the teachers and this will STOP!!
And they chide Texas for wanting to arm teachers.
In the not too distant past, a school shooting would have been Headline news. Sad to see this become commonplace.
Prayers for those involved.
Details are trickling out that this situation was personal. The two boys were arguing and one shot the other at point blank range. An armed teacher could not have stopped it. I don't have a problem with responsible gun owners carrying firearms at a school, but there is no need to bring that argument into this particular situation.
This is what happens to our youth when the public education system for years has fostered a culture of bullying and mistreatment of others.
KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (AP) — A student fatally shot a 16-year-old classmate during a dispute Thursday at a Knoxville high school, and a suspect was taken into custody moments later on a nearby street, authorities said.

The shooting happened shortly after 8 a.m. at the Central High School cafeteria, Chief Deputy Bill Roehl said. The suspect and victim knew each other, said Knox County School System Superintendent Bill McIntyre.
“This wasn’t a shooting that was a random act,” Roehl said. “It was an individual directing his aggression toward another individual, not the school or the students inside the school.”
Authorities haven’t released the names of the victim, who died at University of Tennessee Medical Center, or the suspect. No other students were injured.
The school was placed on lockdown after the shooting. School officials were preparing to release students one classroom at a time, then bus them to a church so they could be picked up by their parents.
Joining you in prayers.
