Really low if talking about ethanol. Yields are about 150 bushels per acre and 2.8 gallons of ethanol per bushel.
Did they mean corn oil? If so why compare to it except to mislead?

They mentioned several times that the algae produced a vegetable oil.
Here’s a Google that shows articles stating 328, then 300 gallons of ethanol per acre of corn, then one for 439 further down:
I’ve come across the 20 gallons per acre for corn oil in other places. But, corn oil comes only from the germ of the kernel, which is a small part of the kernel of corn. So, the germ is separated and the rest of the kernel of corn used for something else:

So, I think it is misleading because it’s the 300 or so gallons of ethanol per acre that’s used for fuel from the corn, not the 20 gallons of corn oil.
The algae still produces tremendously more volume per acre. Wonder how much each costs to produce a gallon of usable fuel?
