And has a dramatically higher resale value.

Replacement Cost is still the largest per-mile expense
on small and mid-size autos. Competently made diesels
have an advantage here, because you either get more
back on resale, or get many more years to drive it
into the ground.

The emission equipment required to meet the USEPA regs on these new diesels is very complex.
My bet is the long term repair costs will be high. Perhaps stunningly high.

The days of the simple bulletproof diesel for the NA market are gone.
