The Olympics stopped being the olympics when they allowed professionals to compeat, ie basketball, etc.

The Olympics have always had pros play. The only thing that has changed in that regard is that the west is allowed to have pros, not just the commie countries.

Actually the notion that the Olympics should be of folks who are amatures has it's roots in 1800’s high society rather then the ancient Greek games.

In the Ancient Greek games pro athletes of the day as well as so called amatures took part in the games. The only pre requisite was that the competitor must be Greek.

Now when the Olympic ideal was reincarnated in the 1800 which stemmed from the European Upper Class Society and there private clubs. They bared anyone who worked with there hands or labored daily in any means.

The reason being is that a working man would have an unfair advantage do to the fact he is exercising his body at the same time he is working... also it kept out the lower class people who had no choice but to do Manual Labor...

so in keeping with the true tradition of the games and not the Bouugia ideology of the 1800’s the best athletes in the world should be allowed to compete. Even if they are pro's
