Link via Karl, who wonders what Obama could possibly mean here after his stirring testament at Saddleback to what a real bad person Saddam Hussein was.
The Illinois senators opposition to the Iraq war, which his comment clearly referenced, is well known. But this was the first time the Democratic presidential candidate has made a comparison between the U.S. invasion of Iraq and Russias recent military activity in Georgia.Weve got to send a clear message to Russia and unify our allies, Obama told a crowd of supporters in Virginia. They cant charge into other countries. Of course it helps if we are leading by example on that point.

Yes, you just know that the only reason Russia did it is because they learned it from us.
Stupid f$cking idiot. He’s too stupid to know he’s stupid.
There just has to be a link.....No doubt Jimmy Carter is responsible for this naive man’s conception.....
Keep diggin the hole O! Keep digging the hole!
I cannot belive they are this stupid.
WOW, so Obambi is now a fierce critic of the Clintonistas on Bosnia/Serbia/Kosovo and on missile attacks on Sudan and Iraq in '98??
What a tool, no matter what one thinks about the particulars of either the Clinton interventions in the '90s or the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, taking up leftist talking points in this way is merely serving the cause of our ENEMIES. This is so typical of the far left, continually creating a moral equivalence between the USA and the worst countries in the world. It is what the moronic left does all the time to Israel, too.
This guy is dangerously clueless...
“No doubt Jimmy Carter is responsible for this naive mans conception.....”
They do share that particular, I-hate-my-country, Blame America First strand of DNA.
A person who cannot discern the difference between the two events has no business attempting to lead a nation.
I love it! Obama’s taking Russia’s side in this. Great!
What a surprise! This load of “nuance” is exactly what the Russians are saying.
Big brain Obama is apparently unaware that Russia has made a regular practice of invading Georgia since Catherine the Great was czarina.
Maybe Obama should start talking about the ‘aggression’ that occurs in our nations inner cities with gang violence. Maybe he should start talking about the ‘aggression’ that is advocated in rap, including by the rap musician he has on his iPOD. If rap isn't an example for ‘aggression’, what is?
Wow, he’s dumber than I thought!
Nothing naive about Carter or Obama. Both are following their liberal/Socialist/Marxist path with their eyes open.
People have such a short memory of history. I’ll bet there are plenty of people who think Bush just made a phone call one day out of the blue and sent our troops to go topple Saddam. Idiots.
From my point of view, if only Bush were as aggressive and ballsy at Putin and Russia and simply didn’t care what the world thinks and doesn’t mind going out there and kicking some butt (of the real bad guys of course).
There’s nothing naive about it. He took his training from Pravda provided by a personal representative of Uncle Joe Stalin, chosen to mentor him in his youth by his kindly old grandfather.
And it’s exactly what his moonbat base wants to hear.
Notice that he says nothing about the war that possibly DID influence Russia on this deal: Clinton’s bombing and invasion of Yugoslavia, and his theft of the province of Kosovo from a former ally.
America did Not Invade Iraq. We Liberated Iraq from a dreadful dictator, freed it from al Quaida, and gave democracy to its people. Russia’s invasion of Georgi is an attempt to reestablish their former Czarist Empire.
