Your comments really do sum up the emotional sentiment of so many on the FR. It really is perplexing to me....honestly. The media and much of the world has heaped praises upon China's hosting of the games. They acknowledge some of the negatives, however, overall, the world has been pleasantly surprised. And certainly, everyone on the FR must realize, this is not just a pride for the government of China but much more so for the ordinary citizens. Yet, for many on the FR, it's as though the Berlin games of 36 were replayed. In fact, I sometimes wonder if many on the FR are more offended by the Beijing games than by the Berlin games. I'm not here to make accusations, but I do sometimes wonder.

With respect to the Olympics, the MSM that matters most in the US is NBC. It virtually ignored China's human rights abuses, political prisoners, labor camps, anti-Christian policies, one child policy, repression of minorities, widespread poverty outside camera range of the Olympic Village. Such coverage would not have helped their ratings.
As for an old order being rocked, I submit that that is a bad thing, and we should not like it. As China's economy and military strengthen, they become an increasing potential threat. Some threats become real menaces, then real enemies. Enemies must eventually be appeased or defeated, and either option is expensive.
Bull. The rest of the world has been exposed to what a polluted, cheating, authoritarian piece of $hit of a country China is. How you're not completely embarrassed by what a joke your country is baffles me.
