In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate to quell speculative charges that he might not be a natural-born citizen. But the image prompted more blog-based skepticism about the document's authenticity. And recently, author Jerome Corsi, whose book attacks Obama, said in a TV interview that the birth certificate the campaign has is "fake."

We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

There is a reason Obama went to Hawaii recently and that was to find the real birth certificate or one that appears to be legitimate BECAUSE HIS CAMPAIGN had produced a FAKE CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH and passed it off as real. Obama should be held to account for passing off the fake COLB.

Even if Obama's Birth Certificate is genuine, what are the ramifications of his citizenship status due to his educational stint in Indonesia? If I understood correctly from reading elsewhere, to attend a Muslim school in Indonesia, it was necessary for him to be an Indonesian citizen. This was in a time when Indonesia had no provision for dual-citizenship, meaning that Obama's American citizenship would have had to have been renounced.

Any thoughts? If this one isn't worth pursuing either, let's put them both to rest at once.

Actually, cripplecreek has a good point.

While this has never been an issue in the past, it is going to be an issue in the future, no question at all.

Maybe not this election cycle, and maybe not the next, but mark my words, it is going to be a major issue someday. When do we start paying attention to it?

As other posters have said (and I agree) he can be defeated on the issues. But this is something that should be established without a doubt before a candidate should be allowed to participate in the primary process. I am not sure this has been done, but I could be wrong.

This issue is more important than any other aspect of this campaign. The people trying to whitewash this apparent massive fraud, should be more concerned about the importance of our laws, and the future of America in that regard. Every candidate should be made to PROVE THEIR BIRTHRIGHT AND CITIZENSHIP and have it scrutinized -— just like every US citizen has to do when they sign up for Social Security or other government program....

I was a skeptic at first but frankly Obama needs to answer the charges and frankly I couldn’t care less what factcheck thinks.

That makes two (thousands?) of us.

Much like John "The Snake" Kerry, could have put to bed the entire skepticism issue about his military experience and awards by executing a Form 180, Barack ("Peace Be Upon His Middle No Name") Obama could do the same by signing some sort of release allowing anyone access to his birth certificate in Hawaii.

Like Kerry, I suggest that will NOT happen and thus, simply adds to the skeptics who wonder why?

Factcheck does not address Barry Soetoro, now known as Barack Hussein Obama, whose citizenship was listed as "Indonesian" and whose religion was listed as "Islam."

I believe there many more important issues to defeat Obama on but how are we supposed to believe some website that post a picture taken through a window. It only adds to the conspiracy theory. This one line pretty much sums it up.

Corsi: Well, what would be really helpful is if Senator Obama would release primary documents like his birth certificate.

Till then we have to speculate and ask why?

It is a bit sad that I have to repeat things that are already in the report.
Factcheck can’t have access to the original because Hawaii will never give it to anyone but a family member, as they stated.
The certificate is stamped and signed, and is compliant with the State Dept standards. In other words, it is no different than what you would get if you made the same request from the same state.
Factcheck is not left wing. This is the site that defended and was quoted by Dick Cheney when he was questioned about his deferred compensation from Halliburton four years ago. And it takes about 1 second to see articles they posted in which they are correcting things that Obama has said about McCain. I love the way that every time there is a new question of the document miraculously Obama provides and even more detailed version of it with all the necessary corrections made to disprove his detractors.

Still haven’t figured out a way to fix that messed up border yet, however I’m sure they are working on it even as we speak...

Factcheck.org is an Obama site, anything they say or print is highly suspect. The new COLB they exhibit is also suspect, due to the fact the first COLB they posted on the web has been proven fake. Obama is most likely NOT an American citizen no matter where he was born since he became an indonesian citizen when his family moved there which means his US citizenship was renounced. There are other reasons that he is not qualified or eligible for President and the lawsuit states them quite clearly. If all this is a lie then it will come out.
