“Sure you’re on the right website? I think you missed the turn to DU.”

The writer was saying that the environmental impact of disposing of batteries from the Prius would be extremely difficult. Is it not true that the environmental impact of disposing of radioactive waste would be as difficult as disposing of batteries? But please be sure to let me know in the future if I happen to write something that offends your sensibilities.

Building a Toyota Prius causes more environmental damage than a Hummer that is on the road for three times longer than a Prius. As already noted, the Prius is partly driven by a battery which contains nickel. The nickel is mined and smelted at a plant in Sudbury, Ontario. This plant has caused so much environmental damage to the surrounding environment that NASA has used the ‘dead zone’ around the plant to test moon rovers. The area around the plant is devoid of any life for miles.

The Sudbury mine has produced nickel since 1859, continuously and, presumably profitably.
The Prius was introduced to the world in 2001, after being available in Japan for 4 years.

This paragraph is the ultimate in ignorance, demagoguery, selective knowledge and opportunism.
Yes, the Prius is often driven by terminally doped up greens and environmental freaks, but then MBs were used almost universally by the Nazi High Command. Doesn't make them any less popular today among the cash rich, mentally deficient entertainers and poseurs in all professions.

Getting back to Sudbury, the drumbeat of whining frenzy against this mine fails, totally, to address the use of Nickel for the previous 138 years.

Imagine that.
Isn't clueless propaganda wonderful?
