I think she would be a great candidate, but I worry about selecting selecting a candidate based on identity politics. As a women, I am always skeptical when another female is chosen. I find it insulting that people try to gain my vote by selecting a member of the same sex. Hutchinson has a great resume and I have much respect for her, however she does little for the electoral math. Texas is a red state and will remain a red state. McCain needs to select an executive with genuine conservative credentials from a swing state. Pennsylvania has a lot of electoral votes and is within striking distance for the GOP. I like former Gov. Mark Schwieker from Pennsylvania.

And she’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Ever watch her trying to debate a Dem in an interview show? She’s almost always caught flat footed with weak, fumbling, superficial, repetitive arguments. She’s almost as old as McCain and looks it, too. A couple of geriatrics as the standard bearers against Obama? Dumb idea!

You called me a troll, so I did one click on your name to see that you are WAY newer than my FR date, so yes, you’re a noob. You couldn’t even make that one click upon my name...I suggest you do so before you make an even bigger fool of yourself, Research Specialist.

I must apologize for making you barking mad tonight. That is all I have, there is Baseball on TV and I have no further interest in debating an idiot who can’t even undertake the most elementary of research before popping off at the mouth. Good night.

Oh, wait...I almost forgot: Explain to me why McQueeg (for whom I will not be voting) should pick a VP based upon genitalia? You never did explain that after asserting it with the professorial quality I’ve come to expect, although you did a yeoman’s work in attacking me ad hominum. I will stick around long enough to hear that, I’m all ears. Unless it’s more dribble.

I didn’t think you were capable of defending your point of view. It’s a pity because I was expecting a good, reasoned argument about why the GOP needs a female VP.

Well, since that’s all you seem to be capable of saying, I’ll leave to you to your scotch while I go watch my game. Thanks for playing, big dog. For God’s sake I hope you learn how to argue with people before you get your ass kicked by an angry good ol’ boy

The only “good reason” the GOP needs a female nominee is identity politics. We need a strong leader with a good conservative record on issues. Choosing leadership based on gender and/or race steams from liberal ideas of forced equality. As a women I do not need a women to represent me, I need an effective leader in the White House. If she is a women great, but the conversation should not be about her gender. We should be discussing her record. Being female does not ensure victory. Just ask Hillary.

Well, if you call counsel for one of the largest banks in Texas, co-founder of Fidelity National and NTSB head for two years nothing, what the hell soes anyone else in this race (on both sides) stack up against it? I didn't say that her experience was nothing. It is more, for example, than Obama and Biden combined. However, I'd like to see an active or former governor on the ticket, preferably someone who can teach McCain more about how the economy works. That would round out the ticket very nicely.
Regarding the DC Personal Protection Act: Guns are my big issue, so I understand that her sponsorship of this bill while the Heller case was still pending was a HUGE tactical error, which fortunately amounted to nothing since it didn't pass. Had it passed, the Heller case would have been rendered moot, and we'd have no Supreme Court decision stating that the 2nd Amendment protects an individual right to keep arms (they didn't touch on "bear") outside of the militia. She might have been well-meaning, and had her heart in the right place on this issue, but she almost helped to scuttle one of the most important cases of our lifetimes.
Honestly, if you're going to pick a Texas senator, pick Cornyn. He's far more conservative, and his got some of the killer instinct that Kay lacks.
That all said, I will most certainly vote for McCain-Hutchison if that's the ticket - ANYBODY BUT OBAMA.
