Imagine if liberal principals were applied to sports, so that the best team is shamed and punished for oppressing the others, and the team that manages to lose the most games is awarded the championship to encourage self-esteem. In Little League, it's already happening:
Nine-year-old Jericho Scott is a good baseball player — too good, it turns out.
The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more. When Jericho took the mound anyway last week, the opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left, his coach said.
Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will disband Jericho's team, redistributing its players among other squads, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it. They say Jericho's coach, Wilfred Vidro, has resigned.
But Vidro says he didn't quit and the team refuses to disband. Players and parents held a protest at the league's field on Saturday urging the league to let Jericho pitch.
"He's never hurt any one," Vidro said. "He's on target all the time. How can you punish a kid for being too good?"
The answer: the same way you can rob people of their wealth for creating too much of it.

Who would have thunk that this is happening in the northeast? What a bunch of kooks.
When a team had a really good pitcher, we stymied him by bunting. We could slaughter the other team by doing this. The better the pitcher, the less likely he would run after a bunt. That was a job for other people.
In my mind I’m picturing some liberal adult, stamping their foot, tears in their eyes shouting “It’s not fair”.
Crybabies.
This is not Little League. It appears to be a local league where they can make up there own rules. Not all youth baseball programs are affiliated with Little League.
It’s high time we forced the NBA to reflect the ethnic mix of the nation as a whole. I will not rest until the NBA is 88% white.
Sounds just like OBAMA and the dhimmikratz IRAQ strategy...............
we had plenty of 12 year olds in Dixie Youth little league their last year that could pitch like that..in my day.
get the moms out of the dugout and take their wussy husbands with them
In fact, this is a perfect case in point for why organized youth sports are a bad idea all around. If I had kids I wouldn't let them play in organized leagues like this until they got to high school.
Little League games suck when one kid develops much faster than the others. But then again, sometimes college/Olympian softball looks exactly the same (i mean, the US no-hit the entire olympic field for 3 or 4 games until the medal round).
But the solution isn’t to punish the kid who is good. You could just make him pitch in the next age level. He gets some competition and the older kids get to hit against somebody closer to their physical limits. That way nobody gets punished and and everybody gets to play baseball.
Exactly. In fact, that’s exactly what would happen if there were no organized league at all. Kids would naturally tend to play sports according to talent rather than age, and the superb nine-year-old athlete would be playing with kids a couple of years older than he is.
It is hard to believe any sport would do this to a child who is learning to play the game with excellence. I have coached Little league 9 year olds. Our local league uses pitching machines for 7-8-9 year olds to get them used to faster pitching. These machines are set at minimum 42 MPH. We had a Championship game where it was set at 51 MPH. At 9 my Son was pitching 40-45 MPH and guess what? Kids were hitting him. There were other 9 year olds throwing faster than him in the league.
The key is to get the kids to be better batters. If this 9 year old moved to our area he would be surprised at how many kids put his ball in play.
Teach the kids to hit... don’t penalize the pitcher who is performing on par with kids his age around the Country.
Oh how the left hates it when someone does well, achieves success, and is ready to leave the democrat plantation! The left would rather keep people down and dependent.
Liberalism is really a degenerative disease of the mind.
“A fine is a tax for doing Wrong...A tax is a fine for doing well!”
Back in the day, the kids in my neighborhood played baseball all day during the summer. The result was that they became the best players when they signed up for Little League. When my brother was 9, he was the pitcher the kids hated to bat against. Instead of being punished for being good, they moved him up to the next age group. He was happy and the kids were happy. No one cried how unfair it was.
Someone should ENCOURAGE him to keep on pitching - not discourage him! I bet in 9 years he woulod be ready for the Major League Draft!
Jericho Scott, I believe you'll be a damn good pitcher - and I hope you'll be pitching - when you are 11 and 12 - in the Little League World Series!
