Postville has lost more than a quarter of its pre-raid population of 2,300. Besides the detained workers, scores more fled or went into hiding.
People were pushed out of jobs and homes. Children were separated from parents. Businesses verged toward collapse.

Enforce the laws! Build the fence!
Boo freak'n hoo
If you’re Skeert then just GO HOME!!!!!
If they want to avoid it, seems like Mexico would be a great place to hide.
“People were pushed out of jobs and homes. Children were separated from parents. Businesses verged toward collapse.”
That’s not the worst part—giant robots from outer space are stomping on people and frying them with laser beams from their eyes.
Cry me a river........
Arrest every illegal that is here disrespecting our Laws!
That’s very true—I’m sure most would blend in very well in Mexico.
Oh the illegal Hughmanity!!!!!!
My teachers would say: “Little tumblindice, if we’ve told you once, we’ve told you a hundred billion gazillion times—stop exaggerating!”
So journalism school wasn’t an option.
When you break the law there are consequences.
And when politicians help lawbreakers break the law the people they are suppose to represent pay the consequences too.
The Mayor of Perry should know better!
One thing I don’t understand. Why are they there to be afraid in the first place? Message not get across the first time?
Formulaic leftist diatribe.
Let me just save these “journalists some time. Next occasion you have for writing one of these hand-wringing boo-hoo stories about deportations, just use the following template:

Should I be sad for the ILLEGALS in Postville, Iowa? Sorry, not sad, but ICE needs more raids. Arrest business owners who hire ILLEGALS! No more CITIZENS to babies of ILLEGAL moms. We need to build the fence - or put a sign up ‘Warning MINEFIELD’ at the border.
Yes, and especially hard-hit are women, children, and minorities.
See, good things CAN happen!
I read the whole article, and I still didn’t see the “sad” part of the story. Can some one please point this out to me, because I feel if you break the law and on the run, you should be scared.
Perry’s on the list. With Iowa loosing rural schools, the one way they get to keep their local is to have lots of little anchor babies and other enrolled. Perry is a bigger target than Potsville.
And don’t forget the homeless! Outer space robots hate the homeless.
Looks like ICE hit a nest in Mississipi as well (above thread).
Go get` em boys—save the women, children, minorities, undocumented immigrants and homeless from the giant robots with lasers in their frikkin’ heads!
