Kaiser Permanente is contacting 960 mothers whose babies may have been exposed to a health care worker in San Francisco who has an active case of tuberculosis.

The worker was assigned to the postpartum unit in the maternity ward of Kaiser's San Francisco Medical Center to care for mothers and infants. Kaiser officials say the infection risk for patients is very low, but testing will be provided along with treatment if necessary.

I wonder what the immigration status is of the infected "worker"?

Well, we all know San Freakcisco as the “sanctuary city” that it is so this “worker” could be from anywhere carrying ANY disease. Also would be interesting to know WHO KNEW about the diseased worker? Did Kaiser know? Was the “worker” in the know about his/her disease? How was it discovered?

All unanswered questions cleanly left out of the ariticle.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I wonder what the HIV status and sexual preferences of the worker was?

Try doing a Google search on the words: TB and HIV. You will see that homosexuality, HIV, and TB really do threaten all of us.

Years ago wifey and I took an older neighbor lady to visit her husband at the Kaiser Hospital in downtown Los Angeles.....definitely staffed by third-worlders; not to mention that the place looked like an absolute pigsty.

I’m surprised that San Francisco even has a maternity ward anymore...

Yes, or more appropriately, even ALLOWS MATERINITY WARDS to exist in the city....by judicial fiat. They may even restrict them to use by illegal immigrants only!!! Got to get those leftist voter numbers up....

A few years ago, while helping a friend starting a new restaurant, I came in for lunches. We had a black guy in the kitchen that began to cook during lunch. He had not been dependable and every monday was hung over seriously. What happened was he got sick. Went to the Doctor and still worked. I found out that he had TB. Well, it set me off. I called the health department and related the circumstances. ‘We have a cook that has been diagnosed with TB’” ... she said what is your problem with that?” I answered “he is handling the food for all the customers.” She said .. “IF he takes medicine, it is okay.”

As if we can depend on him taking his medicine correctly

Boggled my mind.
No thanks ... I want no part in this.

I related this story to a few acquaintances and was told by one of them they knew a dishwasher that worked in a popular restaurant that had hepatitis .

So beware. Who knows who is in the kitchen.

This happened in Texas. There is no health check necessary to work with food anywhere, anymore. No license ... nothing.

Ridiculous.

The problem is much larger than the infection of this worker and his/her immigration status. Health-care workers across the country (and in California in particular) are exposed to ridiculous risks due to unfettered illegal immigration (and the disease it brings). California has a TB epidemic and it is now common in the health care workforce... this worker may very well be a victim rather than the perp.

i’m really curious as to the “health care” worker

usually nurses/doctors would recognize he/she had tb

could have picked it up by unhealthy habits or
the “health/care worker” was housekeeping

A good friend of ours 3 month old granddaughter was exposed to this when she was born at Kaiser SF. The nurse was Vietnamese. My wife, who is an RN, says all hospital workers are given a test to see if they have TB when they are hired and then every 2 years thereafter. Obviously the hospital screwed up. Truly an ambulance chasers dream.
