Delegates to the Democratic National Convention are casting ballots for the party's presidential nominee at their hotels this morning.
The vote, negotiated by the campaigns for presumptive nominee Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, is expected to speed proceedings from the floor of the Pepsi Center tonight, when totals will be read from the floor as part of a roll call vote.
But it is also leaving many delegates perplexed.
Some delegates were confused because Sen. Clinton was not expected to release her delegates until the afternoon.
"It doesn't make any sense to me," said Mary Sullivan, a Clinton delegate from Albany, N.Y. "I'm gonna vote for Hillary. I'm a Clinton delegate and she hasn't released me yet."
Clinton is expected to address delegates this afternoon.
Sullivan said she had been startled by the hostility toward Clinton on the part of some Obama supporters.
"The Obama people act like they lost," she said. "There's no need for it ... . It's over. It's been over. We all knew it, but some of us haven't given up the ghost yet."

Many had traveled to Denver just so they could cast a vote on the floor for Hillary, and now the Obama team, having promised a floor roll-call, is going to be seen as reneging on a promise.
And engaging in another dig at Hillary and her supporters.
This is going to go over real well.
And they're going to skip the public vote to make sure.
Obama is turning into the Potemkin candidate right before our very eyes.
I'm starting to smell a McCain landslide. If this is any hint of whats to come its going to be a blowout.
They absolutely want no surprises. It will be interesting to see the order in which they’re read and what the count will be when the suspend and declare the victor.
Gee why do you even need a convention, if the delegates don’t cast their official votes there?

Go Hill-raisers, Go! Tear that thing down tonight!
I may be guessing but watch the empty seats after the hotel vote. The hillary supporters might decide to leave the DNC convention in disgust.
Look for a possible half empty auditorium and the cameras to keep tight shots to avoid showing it.
even the “floor” vote is turning into a hollywood production. Lights, Camera, Action....actors, read prepared script. don’t vary!
And what about the chain of custody? If you think Florida was bad, what if Clinton supporters claim there was funny business with the ballots. Who’s keeping an eye on the actual ballots?
Can’t have fake unity when half the delegates don’t vote for the Obama-siah.
This could backfire bigtime...what if more people vote for Hillary than Obama? What if the argument over the floor vote was a rope-a-dope by Hildabeast? (just thinking outside the box)
Maybe Hill will run as an independent. Or is it too late for her to get on all the states’ ballots?
Then the Obamaniacs in charge of the ballots will stuff the crap out of them to make sure the ONE is appointed.
No problemo if he brings in the Chicago Machine.

Open covenants ... openly arrived at! HAH! BOHICA!
Kind of hard to do in this circumstance. There are a fixed number of delagates and they know exactly how many are actually human and how many are dead. It's not like voting in Chicago or Philly.
Whom carries the ballots for counting and whom counts the ballots will win the balloting ... the idea is to make it appear to the fools who traveled to Denver that they are actually being counted.
