TEMPLE OF DEM ON MT. O-LYMPUS
New York Post ^ | August 28, 2008 | Jeremy Olshan and Geoff Earle

Democrats will kneel before the "Temple of Obama" tonight.

As if a Rocky Mountain coronation were not lofty enough, Barack Obama will aim for Mount Olympus when he accepts his party's nomination atop an enormous, Greek-columned stage - built by the same cheesy set team that put together Britney Spears' last tour.

John McCain's campaign mocked the massive neoclassical set created for Obama's speech at 75,000-seat Invesco Field. Some Republicans have dubbed it the "Barackopolis," while others suggested the delegates should wear togas to fit in among the same Doric columns the ancient Greeks believed would stroke the egos of Zeus and Athena.

"It's only appropriate that Barack Obama would descend down from the heavens and spend a little time with us mere mortals when accepting the Democratic nomination," said Republican National Committee spokesman Danny Diaz.

The McCain campaign quickly dispatched a memo calling the stage the "Temple of Obama."

"We would have expected to read something like this in The Onion. Fortunately for us, it's true. Unfortunately for Obama, it's true," a McCain adviser told The Post.

Actually I think it’s supposed to look like the Lincoln Memorial. Martin Luther King gave his ‘I have a dream’ speech there 25 years ago today.

Freepers Beware!

Today is the 45th anniversatorry of Martin Luther King’s historic speech - ‘I have a dream’.

The ‘greek temple’ is actually a recreation of the Lincoln Memorial, where the March On Washington ended and MLK’s speech was made.

This will make the Dems WEEP!

The ‘rat media will EAT THIS UP!

Be prepared!

Have you seen these tickets for the event tonight with Obama wrapped in the American flag. Ayers wrapped himself in an American flag. Monkey see. monkey do. Oh, can I say that without being racist?

http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=97788&catid=188

Obama apparently doesn’t know how to show respect to the flag. Or he doesn’t care.

Obama is simply like a chocolate Easter rabbit. He is dark and smooth on the outside. Sweet also....but completely hollow on the inside.

Correct - McCain and the GOP are being played bigtime.

They better burst the MLK bubble well before the speech today, and let people know that Obama wants to invoke the past, is 45 years too late, etc. etc. etc.

The Dems will say this is the next step of the dream started 45 years ago, blah, blah, blah.

Freepers Wake Up!

Look in the mirror, bud. It’s YOU and ME that are on the altar, sacrificed to the gods of socialism.

Well since it is MLK's "I have a dream" speech, I expect the audience will be treated to The Sam Cooke song "A Change Gonna Come".

Tears will flow..

Could be. He gives his speech, invokes King, and then it's "Boy, those Republicans are so dumb they didn't know what day this was the anniversary of" all over the media.

As someone stated a few days ago, it bears more than a passing resemblance to the Oracle at Delphi. Seems to fit the Dem view of Obama quite well.

I can’t believe that his campaign is so clueless. They’re the gift that keeps on giving for the McCain campaign.

Pretty poor re-creation since it looks nothing like the Lincoln Memorial.
