The worker was assigned to the postpartum unit in the maternity ward of Kaiser's San Francisco Medical Center to care for mothers and infants.

Oddly enough, the Chronicle (Ms. Fernandez) gave little or no data about the infected person. That person could have killed many children because of SF/Kaiser's lax employee health screening policies and political correctness.

Sounds like a gay person with AIDSOr an illegal alien.
The proof, if any is needed, is if this story disappears from the MSM "news".

Could be, I don’t want to speculate...but the new mantra of the MSM, according to the last American Journalists Conference was to de-emphasize descriptions [age, sex, race, ethnicity, religion, height, weight, political affiliation (if Democrat)].
It boggles the mind that California (and Liberals all across the US and Europe) politicians, activists and judges are trying to not use logic and endangering us due to political correctness.
The idea that you would not screen an AIDS patient or immigrant because it would “infringe on their rights” but would put children at risk is the mental illness the Left suffer from.

One of the reasons I left Kaiser long ago was due to their mishandling a case of breast cancer. They took the xray and the lump showed up, but the radiologist "missed" it and by the time my friend noticed the lump, the cancer had spread. Then they botched the surgery. For some legal reason she couldn't sue. She's alive but with a metal 'grid' on her chest that slides down and is visible at her hips. She's just lucky to be alive. Kaiser is having to pay the top cancer specialist in Atlanta to do her follow up because of their lack of adequate care.

The employee may have contacted TB after being hired. My SIL was given 2 TB tests on being hired at a local hospital. He was told that the two test were necessary because of the danger of false negatives. He had worked quite a few years in a Portland hospital and they have the same policy. His Mother works in a Kaiser affiliated hospital with similar policies.

A good friend of ours 3 month old granddaughter was exposed to this when she was born at Kaiser SF. The nurse was Vietnamese. My wife, who is an RN, says all hospital workers are given a test to see if they have TB when they are hired and then every 2 years thereafter. Obviously the hospital screwed up. Truly an ambulance chasers dream.
