Truly amazing, scandals aside, he could be fairly blamed for the defeat in ‘04 by the images of his lawless gay marriage antics bringing the conservative faithful to the polls. Do any dems even remember the “values votors” and their brief interlude of misquoting scripture at every opportunity?
With such a sleazeball as it’s golden boy I don’t know how the dems continue to exist as a party. The difference between his and John Edwards’ fate is, of course, he always sold himself as an unrepentant hedonist.
I fear his statewide ambitions are seriously delusional. San Fran Freako and Hollywood do not represent all of the Golden State.
If those poll results about gay marriage that came out today are accurate, the values that Newsom represents do in fact prevail in California. It was only a question of time, and he was apparently on the cutting edge.
