Former Marine Sgt. Jose Luis Nazario Jr., 28, center, from New York, speaks about his federal trial with his attorneys, Douglas L. Applegate, left, and Joseph M. Preis in Irvine, Calif., on Aug. 16.

A civilian jury in Riverside today acquitted a former Marine sergeant in the killing of four unarmed Iraqi prisoners in the battle for Fallouja in 2004.

Despite hearing a tape-recorded phone call in which Jose Nazario appeared to admit to ordering the killings, jurors said prosecutors had not made the case against him. They also said they felt it wasn't right for them to judge a Marine's actions in combat

Let the anti-American radical left choke on it -— justice be served. And we know who they are.

And that is why juries, not the press, are the forth branch of government.

Isn't it amazing (or not) that a jury can figure out the combat part but not "W"'s own appointed federal prosecutor.

Just what was he thinking when those names were passed before him for appointment?

Great news.

It sounds as if this civilian jury had more good sense than some of the Marines who testified—probably under severe pressure from their superiors. This whole business has been very sad, not only because it is so unfair to the accused men and their families, but because it risks serious damage to Marine Corps morale and a serious blot on our country’s honor.

I don’t think there has been anything quite like this in our previous history.

I sent off a campaign donation the other day to Bill Russell, the guy who is running against Murtha. It’s an uphill battle, but I hope he kicks his sorry butt out of office.

This vile, low, sniveling, traitorous scum of a prosecutor deserves to be shunned by decent people for the rest of his life.
