Yep. Had my identity stolen in Dec. Had the person’s name and everything but the cops did nothing because it was out of state. They suggested calling the FBI. I filed a report on the FTC fraud site but never heard anything.

I believe it has to be reported where it occurred, happened to my brother, by my other brother. The theft occurred in PA but both lived in NJ and my victim brother had to go to PA to report it, to the town where it happened.

I discovered that someone had intercepted my new credit card before it ever got to me. He also had my mother's maiden name and SS# (the only possible place, other than my school, he could have gotten this was from New York. I've heard that an employee at a New York SS office was busted for selling tens of thousands of SS# and mothers' maiden names). He had a fake drivers license from this state with my name and his picture. I discovered this when I got a call that my application at an upscale department store had been declined (together with a request for an additional store card for someone named Shaniqua or Taniqua or Kishandra, something like that). Talking to the credit agency, I found that he attempted to purchase a car using my name. I called the dealership and found that they had made a photocopy of the fake drivers license. I called the police and told them all this and never heard another thing. Now I have blocks against instant credit put on everything.
