Can you please explain the public financing rules to me. Can McCain still spend the money that he gets on his website after Aug. 31?

This is the first true indication of a “bounce.” All of the media hype and negative reporting is, well, what it always is and would have been for any net-plus candidate (Rich, disliked Romney; Inexperienced, token pick Jindal; Bush pawn Portman; Bigot Huckabee; unimpressive, thin-resumed Pawlenty...etc.)

Blah, blah, blah.....

But the bottom line is - in the course of about four hours, without having a fundraiser, just based on positive reaction to the pick - McCain gained over 3,000,000 dollars without trying.

Biden did no such thing for Obama.

When all is said and done, Palin will be a net plus for McCain in many ways, including the women vote. No, she won't bring many die-hard Liberals, Abortionists, or people who would never, ever, ever vote for McCain under ANY circumstance; but she will bring enough of a chunk of middle-of-the-road women, working moms, glass-ceiling breakers, and truly undecided women to have an impact in November.

The money is already speaking louder than the media in this regard.

McCain still has (Lord willing) this bounce; he has stolen the thunder of Obama’s bounce quickly, and he still has his own convention yet to happen. I suspect that by this time next week, we will see McCain slightly ahead in the majority of LV polls, while holding small leads in the key swing states.

They are walking into McCain's trap in two respects that I never saw coming:

1.) The Obama folks are making inexperience the issue of the day - a well-set trap by McCain that they have walked into blindly. If this was any part of Team McCain's strategy - which I suspect it was - they have succeeded tremendously. Inexperience, not change, is now the issue of the day. McCain changed the battlefield to one in his favor in less than 24 hours after Obama’s speech. Absolutely brilliant!

2.) Palin is now riding the tide of very, very low expectations. She is an impressive candidate, and the haters out there - especially the media - are going to see her “unexpectedly” shine, and then lose sleep at night because of it.
