What Sarah Palin Has Brought to the GOP Ticket (Vanity)
8/29/08 | self

Posted on 08/29/2008 10:05:42 PM PDT by Obadiah

"Without vision, the people perish."

That's what it says in the Bible.

Before Sarah Palin was put on the ticket the vast majority of Conservatives had no vision. And we were perishing.

In McCain Conservatives saw an aged guy with dubious conservative credentials who was seemingly quick to pander to the media and towards the liberal point of view. McCain/Feingold was but emblematic of what many Conservatives saw as a series of major sellouts by John McCain.

With McCain Conservative had no vision of the future and we were perishing.

There were no viable Conservatives in the Republican primary to choose from. There were no near term Reaganites in the GOP farm system warming up in the bullpen. McCain himself is old and appeared unconcerned about bedrock conservatisim. With a potential "moderate" VP pick, things looked pretty bleak for Conservatives. Simply put, Conservatives had no vision of the future and we were perishing.

Now with Sarah Palin, this pick is like cool water nourishing a dessicated tongue. In Sarah Palin Conservatives see one of their own.

In Sarah Palin vision has been restored to Conservatives. There is now hope that Palin may be, could be, might become the next Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher. Conservatives can now see a future with Sarah Palin in the mix.

Above all Conservatives love this country. With Palin Conservatives have collectively breathed a very loud sigh of relief. America can retain it's greatness! America may not lurch to the left in some freak spasm of Marxism after all, or tolerate an aged squishy moderate RINO.

If nothing else, John McCain is an American hero, that goes without question. But Sarah Palin is the lamp of the future for Conservatives. For Conservatives the vision has been restored and we have ceased perishing. It is a good day to be a Republican.

We do owe John McCain a debt of thanks for assuming a risk unto himself in selecting Sarah Palin. With this decision McCain has loudly announcing his vision for America's future. It is a good view. It is our vision.

Without a vision the people perish. Today we have been refreshed.

Good post. I’m more fired up about this pick than I’ve been in a long time. Sarah Palin is indeed a breath of fresh air.

“Now with Sarah Palin, this pick is like cool water nourishing a dessicated tongue.”

Palin was one of the names that came up on a thread on free republic.

I was one that thought it would be great if McCain picked a woman.

It’s ironic but it seems like ‘change WE can believe in’!

I had heard Sarah Palin’s name mentioned in the past few week, but she was considered a long shot pick. John McCain kept his short list close to the vest, because she was not on any short list that politicians and talking heads had mentioned.

It was interesting that the McCain camp was able to keep today’s announcement a secret up until almost the time of the rally today. Whereas everyone knew Joe Biden was Obama’s pick long before the Obama people could send out their promised text message on the subject to their supporters.

I'm concerned it could just be window dressing if the McCain campaign doesn't present an unapologetic case for conservatism during the convention and on the campaign trail. We don't want pandering to the unwashed middle or the RINOs. We want the conservative vision laid out for the American people. Its not like most Americans are conservative!

See my post on what needs to be done next. Symbolism alone not win the election!

Bah! Palin is fine. Figure out a way to get McCain off the ticket, and I will vote Republican.

Amen, brother!

Don’t know if it’s the reasons you list here, or postpartum hormones gone wild, but when Gov. Palin came on the stage and began to speak, I burst into tears, because for the first time in a long time, I felt HOPEFUL that a wonderful CHANGE was finally here for conservatives! :-)

I have the feeling Sen. Obama got some very angry phone calls and text messages today from a certain disgruntled party.

This pick shows tremendous courage on the part of John McCain. While I have been one of the supporters for picking Sarah Palin (since Newt was out of the realm of possibility!), I didn't have much faith that she would get the nod.

I cannot believe how Gov. Palin has energized our base - more than I could have ever dreamed.

The HillaryClintonForum.net website is absolutely electrified about this selection - very bad news for the community organizer.

Heh. McCain should offer to run for Veep instead. I'd definitely vote FOR the ticket then!

She is a full-faceted human force on the political scene not seen in a time.

She has the integrity to oppose corruption and fraud, the courage and common sense to propose the darkest of leftist taboos (drilling, cutting trees, hunting, eating your kill).

She is a living roadblock to abortion and global warming--

And the proof that what we've seen has substance is in the apoplectic rage of the Paul Begalas and the Obama spokespersons and the Chuck Schumers and the Keith Overthetops--

And she'll be president in due course.

And the tide will roll back, making sane many on the left, dopamine for parkinsons--kismet.

Next, John McCain truly needs to improve upon his own views on a lot of issues so that he’s much more acceptable to the majority of conservatives (Seriously, good luck with that with “maverick” McCain!). McCain also truly has a lot of work to do with conservatives, if he really wants to make sure that he really does successfully win on November 4. Unfortunately, McCain still truly has plenty of time to seriously blow it! Also, successful “political coattails” still need to be seriously made so that other conservatives, who are also running for a variety of other political offices at each and every political level, truly also have decent chances for political victory as well!

This is the most excited I have been about voting since 1980. And maybe it is for a reason. Maybe Palin may be the next great “Reaganesque” president.

PhilDragoo,

I said the same damn thing to my Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell and Rep. Adam Smith (all Washington State democrats). Drill our own oil.

They fed me crock of empty replies that disgusted me for a week and showed me they have no guts or integrity and don’t give a hoot about the working man.

Sarah, you show them.
