Barack Obama's wife and three close advisers have been involved with a program at the University of Chicago Medical Center that steers patients who don't have private insurance -- primarily poor, black people -- to other health care facilities... Obama's top political strategist, David Axelrod, co-owns the firm, ASK Public Strategies, that was hired by the hospital last year to sell the program -- called the Urban Health Initiative -- to the community as a better alternative for poor patients...

ya know, I don’t have a problem with steering patients to clinics and out of the ER, IF that level of care is indicated for their chief complaint.
ambulances taking patients to the ER for a hang nail is silly, yet many use it for that.
now if the ONLY criteria for steering them there is lack of insurance then no, it’s wrong.
Obama’s business connections are giving me the impression that Obama is a skimmer, scammer.
If the local pols say there will be a local shelter people will stay, not willing to leave their possessions and relying on having a last resort. This is not a time to score debating points. He needs to motivate the evac.
The proposed busing gets me. They had buses....but the Union Drivers said it was not in their contract. Bet they'll get Triple Time!!
There will be deaths of shut-ins and handicapped if the city doesn’t sweep and look for “stragglers.”
As much as I don’t want to, I’ll have to agree with you on this one. We can ascribe motives as to why they’re doing this, but the bottom line is that the people clogging that facility can be better (and more quickly) served elsewhere.
We can go around and try to say that everything the Obamas do is evil, but it isn’t true and it weakens the legitimate arguments against them. IMO

Another Obama adviser and close friend, Dr. Eric Whitaker, took over the Urban Health Initiative when he was hired at U. of C. in October 2007. Whitaker previously had been director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. Obama has said he recommended Whitaker for the state job, giving his name to Tony Rezko, who helped Gov. Blagojevich assemble his Cabinet. Rezko, a former fund-raiser for Obama and Blagojevich, was convicted in June on federal corruption charges tied to state deals.

First time I've read that the school buses remained stationary because of the Union. Guess the MSM didn't cover that part of the Katrina Union Disaster!
I also did not hear that the drivers abandoned their buses because “it was not in their contract”. Too bad they weren’t Federal employees - President Bush could have done a PATCO on them for desertion and endangering American citizens.
