She's the runner-up beauty queen who could wind up in the White House.
She's a mooseburger-eating hockey mom married to an Eskimo.
She's a gun-toting, pro-life Christian conservative - and a Republican reformer who took on crooks in her party.
Meet Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, John McCain's unlikely choice for running mate - a mother of five who drives a snowmobile, flies a plane, fishes for salmon and wears the mantle of maverick like a parka.

Can she still hold her seat as governor while campaigning?
“Governor Palin Releases Statement to Alaskans
August 29, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today released the following statement to Alaskans:
It is the honor of my life to represent you as your Governor, and over the next two months I will continue to do so. As the mother of five, I know how to multi-task, and I will continue to promote the path of reform that we set out on together in the state of Alaska.
It is a great privilege to be John McCain’s running mate and to be considered by the American people for the Vice Presidency. This honor is a testament to the reforms and progress we have made together in Alaska. Now is the time to take that spirit of reform to Washington.”
I’m not clear on what that means though. If the RNC ticket doesn’t win in November, can she still hold her Gov seat?
Is she a pilot or not?
I keep getting conflicting info on that one.
Husband does for sure.
Yes - If she is elected her Lt Gov would take over.

So if not elected, she holds onto that seat?
Sub 4 hour marathon, too. At 41 years of age.

Taking on difficult tasks is the norm, for her.

My understanding is yes.
Some critics has sniffed that she’s inexperienced because she’s “only” a governor. But Jimma Carter was Governor before he went to the White House. So was Reagan. So whats the big problem with Palin moving to V.P., not even P., from the very same position? That criticism is total nonsense.
has sniffed = have sniffed
Big Media gave the much more inexperienced Barack Obama a free pass. Now they're upset because a person who's been a governor and had executive experience is unexperienced to be a veep candidate? Their whole contention is so absurd that I can't believe they can say those things with a straight face. McCain should come out with an ad along the lines of "Barack Obama with 142 days in the senate and no accomplishments is experienced, while Sarah Palin who is a governor and a chief executive is inexperienced? Sarah Palin has more accomplishments in her two years as governor than Obama's had in his whole career. Vote McCain-Palin on November 5."
And I’m loving it! A REAL PERSON for a change, not a wonk who’s been running for POTUS since third grade.
Fun reading. Join the forum and have fun!
“Vote McCain-Palin on November 5.”
Nov 4
...can Biden remain in his position as Senator and still campaign?
I’m telling the Dems I know to be sure to vote on the fifth.
I don’t know.
