The most accurate way to shoot is with both eyes open. Not everyone can do that. I'm also an NRA personal protection/pistol instructor.
Seems as the one-eye or two-eyes way to shoot depends on the focal length of each eye and eye dominance. If they don't click, you shoot one-eyed.
Ideally you should be able to use the sight with one eye and see the target with the other.
Anyway, if you're a civvy and it's personal protection you won't be shooting at more than 20-25 feet where target acquisition isn't so hard.

If you are in a situation, surprise I am a thug, can you get a perfect sight picture? I don't think so. To react, it is pull, draw, shoot, you have nanoseconds.
