Palin's Pregnancy Problem
Washington Post ^ | 1 Sep 2008 | Sally Quinn

Posted on 09/01/2008 4:38:24 PM PDT by Mr Rogers

My first reaction was shock. Then anger. John McCain chose a running mate simply because she is a woman and one who appealed to the Republican's conservative evangelical base. Now, with news that Palin's 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant, McCain's pick may not even find support among "family values" voters...This may be a hard one for the Republican conservative family-values crowd to swallow. Of course, this can happen in any family. But it must certainly raise the question among the evangelical base about whether Sarah Palin has been enough of a hands-on mother.

I’m actually surprised Huckabee hasn’t chimed in yet to trash the Palin’s. This would be right up his alley.

How can someone who's actually paid to write for a major newspaper get it so completely wrong? This probably seals the vote for some values voters - yes, the kid had premarital sex, but she is accepting the responsibility.

The left is pushing this story to drive the excited conservative base away...it’s obvious.
They are so wrong.

A pregnant daughter -— I was just comparing that to THE BRECK GIRL and his affair, behind his dying wife’s back, getting his mistress pregnant, and supporting the baby and the mistress, then LYING ABOUT IT to the public, and God knows how long before he told his wife, she was being backstabbed while dying of cancer.....

Makes having a pregnant daughter, getting ready to marry apparently, seem kinda trivial, like the entire agenda of the left in terms of importance for America.....hmmmmmm

Now Sally, it’s obvious this is your driveling wish, but you’ve got a juggernaut of a problem coming and this isn’t going to stop it. Do you actually think we value your opinion? Such a silly little girl.

Sorry Sally...it's not a problem at all. All your vitriol to the contrary.

The more of an issue you make of it, the more the good, wholesome reaction of the Palin family will register with and resonate with the voters.

In addition, it will bring more attention to Sarah and her glaring advantage in expoerience over both democratic rivals.

But it must certainly raise the question among the evangelical base about whether Sarah Palin has been enough of a hands-on mother.

But, if Palin was a liberal and had succeeded in persuading Bristol to get an abortion, Sally would be praising her as a great parent.

Reading her other articles, Sally Quinn seems to be an Obama supporter.

The liberal moonbats’ concern for unborn children all of a sudden is really starting to baffle me. What’s up with the wackos? They never seemed to care about embryos before. You can sure tell it’s election time.

ANY good parent knows that you raise them in the best way that you know, and trust that the child will make the correct decisions. Obviously, sometimes they don't.

This recent flip/flop of the demoncrats that the parents are to blame for a child's bad choices is not only hypocritical, not only against the very tenets of "anything goes" of the liberals, but is also against logic.

It's hilarious to watch them display their new found "morals".

One word: Projection

I thought this was going to be a dull campaign and election. This will probably end up being the most fun election in my lifetime.

Sally Quinn does not understand that Evangelicals do not deny the possibility of family unhappiness, folly, and even tragedy. In fact, we expect it, for our faith tells us that such events are a part of life. And we are certain to expect that young people will make foolish choices, for youth is a time of folly. We do hope and expect that young people will use the faith they’ve been taught to make the best decisions possible despite their mistakes.

In fact, she doesn't seem to know much at all...

Ignorance of religious matters is a badge of honor among this crowd. Makes it that much more ludicrous when they attempt to speak on the subject.

Sally Quinn should be introduced to what REAL PROBLEMS are....just by looking at her Pres candidates background and associations. Then at the agenda of the entire DemoRAT Fifth Column agenda....

This whole thing just shows how the beltway, the media and the left DON’T understand evangelicals and “right=wing” Chrisitans. They have some stereotpe in their head that is completely off.

It is amazing that major media hire Sally to discuss religion, when she apparently hasn’t met any church-goers. At least, not Catholics, Baptists, Methodists...

If I was hired to discuss how engineers view things, don’t you think I ought to talk to engineers?

If I remember correctly, she sang a different tune about John Edwards and his pregnant mistress.
