Posted on 09/01/2008 5:14:21 PM PDT by tcg
First of all, Sarah Palin is a woman who lives what she proclaims. She is truly pro-life. She and her husband Todd knew that their last child, Trigg, had an extra chromosome. He was a Downs child. What did they do? They welcomed him as a special gift and showed the whole world that every human life is a gift to be received and not a problem to be dealt with by the always deadly choice, of abortion.
Now, the news has emerged that Sarah and Todds seventeen year old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant with her own child. Yes, pregnant outside of marriage. Well, I understand what they are going through. Having raised five children, including three daughters,it does happen. We cannot make our childrens choices for them. We can only pray that when one of those choices results in the gift of life out of the ordinary course, they will choose to respect the life of the child conceived. I have lived this as a father, and as a grandfather, and I resent the arrogance of those who now raise it in an effort to discredit Sarah Palin.
In fact, the Palin's have only confirmed me in my conviction that the Governor of Alaska is a great asset to John McCain and just the kind of leader which we need to stand at the side of the next President of the United States.Bristol Palin acknowledges that she is five months pregnant and unmarried. She and the father of this child have properly exercised their freedom of choice. They have done so morally. They have chosen life.

she has proved that she deals with issues like we all do and yet the media go on about htis yet ignore Fowlers comments
That's why I think she's going to get McCain elected, and while she'll probably be elected President after him.
The Palins walk the walk.
Three days ago, conservatives fell in love. Today a bunch of creepy thugs tried to attack our girl. This is a very dumb move for those attackers.
This would be a tremendous contrast to Barry Obama's thin-skinnedness (if thin-skinnedness is a word).
We in America are being given such an open and shut case of choosing a culture of life over a culture of death.
The candidate for the presidency from the Dems has an even more pro abortion rating that NARAL to the point of supporting infanticide and view unintended pregnancies as a punishment.
His VP pick although claiming to be Catholic has supported all abortion bills presented before him.
On the other hand, we have a Presidential candidate, who literally was handed his adopted daughter by Mother Teresa (soon to be named a saint)
Our VP candidate refuses to abort her son when told that he will have Downs Syndrome and who has encourage her daughter to give birth to child.
It can not be a coincidence.
Sarah & Todd Palin walk the walk.
May the Good Lord strengthen & protect them.
Wouldn't that make a great bumper sticker?
Now that the entire so-called “Christian right” has stated its support for Gov. Palin’s family, the looney leftist nutroots will next claim she and McCain disclosed her daughter’s pregnancy in order to unite the “evangelicals.”
The lefties are only bitter because Bristol didn't choose abortion so the could throw it at Sarah.
Not quite, ‘don’t punish her with a baby’.
Every time I think I can't get any more disgusted with media, they prove me wrong. I hardly listen, watch or read these morons any more. The sooner the NY Times and WaPo go broke, the better.
As a conservative Christian who went through the unmarried pregnancy bit with a daughter we had loved, brought up in church, etc. I am empathetic to the Palins. Sally Q., Wolfie, et al, are going to be very disappointed when evangelicals keep right on supporting the Palins.
These are real, down to earth people--how refreshing!
What a tailor-made opportunity for the youth and parents of America to see how real people, possessing faith, hope and love can handle difficult decisions without resorting to the taking of a life!
This to me strengthens Sarah Palin and her beliefs and I will vote McCain/Palin ticket. I have a feeling a lot more people will as well like John Coale and we saw on TV today tht Geraldine Ferraro may switch parties????????? Interesting. John Coale also said there are others in the hillreee camp who will be voting McCain/Palin as well but didn’t want to name them until he had an opportunity to check with them.
“Three days ago, conservatives fell in love. Today a bunch of creepy thugs tried to attack our girl. This is a very dumb move for those attackers.”
You know, you have hit the nail on the head. That is exactly why the public will love her too...
Ever hear of a damsel in distress? Could backfire.
Make MORE American babies!!!

It is right that conservatives make more ‘young-uns’ than liberals.
The Backlash begins.
May the glory be all God’s.
B. Hussein Obama has a lot of explaining to do if we can just get a word in edge wise....Bill Ayers and his education program is the one Obama is talking about when he says he will over haul public education if elected. He and William Ayers and his education advisor on his staff, Professor Darling-Hammond is also a friend of Ayers. The Annenberg Challenge was both Ayers and Obama's education organization whose papers are still locked up, I think. We have to get the American people to look at this trumped up American who is in fact a Socialist determined to use the HOPE and CHANGE of the Black Liberation Theology. All had better study that Marxist Theology. The Left in this country are fighting for their lives and will tell you that Obama has nothing to hide even when he tries to stop ads and books

I agree. Could the choice be any clearer?
Yup. Perhaps as many as 4 elections with Palin on the ballot.
She’ll bring independent women, blue collar, small town, union.
The Dems will be left with blacks and liberals.
The Dems know this and are panicked.
Indeed we are!
If anything, the events of the last three days have made me like the Palins even more than I already did.
God Bless their entire family.
As the mother of a 17 yr. old I will tell you this, we can teach and preach 24/7 but even the best of kids do things that we would hope they wouldn’t. My son, while a great kid did some boneheaded things this summer. What I told him was it is how you handle situations after the fact that shows your character.
I don’t believe this will hurt her one bit, not with millions of families dealing with the trials and tribulations that go along with raising teenagers. Instead it shows her families strength.
Well said, mware.
They are calling Sarah Palin a hypocrite for supporting abstinence only to have it revealed that her daughter is 5 months pregnant. The Left is saying that if only she supported birth control for kids this wouldn’t have happened. Well lets think about that.
I have two children, 8 and 12 years old. Soon this will be an issue with me and my wife, and believe it or not, we support abstinence. Can our kids disobey or disregard our wishes? Of course they can, and there would be little we could do, save lock thm up 24/7, to prevent that.
I don’t want my kids to smoke. So I support laws that don’t allow kids under 18 to buy tobacco. Does that also make all of us hypocrites? I mean, some teens, under 18, still choose to smoke. Perhaps we should just give them Malboros in Junior High.
I don’t want my kids to drink alcohol as well. Society and the state doesn’t want them to either, and hence the law says you must be at 21 years old to buy alcohol, and yet, once again, kids still drink, often with terrible and frightening consequences. Are we all hypocrites because of these laws? Should we simply let them drink, but draw the line on driving and drinking? Then what hypocrites will we be when some still get behind the wheel, despite our “cold-hearted preaching”?
Did I mention illegal drugs? They’re illegal for everyone! Yet people still abuse them. A whole war on drugs for 50 years hasn’t stopped the roughly 5-10% or so that habitually abuse them despite the laws, penalties, major disruption to their lives and often even death. Are we therefore all hypocrites?
We need to be against bad behavior, and even not so bad behavior when it can destroy lives. That is the moral thing to do. We cannot, however, stop the truly determined or those who don’t listen, or succumb to the moment. This does not, and never will make us hypocrites.
I totally agree with you!!
I honor Sarah Palin’s “choice” after the fact in continuing her pregnancy. But does a pregnancy well past the age of 40, when risk of Down Syndrome is substantially greater, qualify as leading by example?
Poor Bristol, she has been punished with a child!
Juno: Teen gets pregnant, decides against abortion, and gives the baby up for adoption to a loving mom.
Juneau: Teen gets pregnant, marries her boyfriend, and jumps into adulthood.
In both cases, a beautiful child is born.
Thanks for posting this. You don’t have to be an Evangelical to support the Palin family, as this article shows. The right to life is the most important and fundamental right of all.
“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” as it says in the Declaration of Independence, are the most fundamental rights on which our country is based.
What this attack on a young lady by the MSM has brought out in response is yet more evidence that this is a strong and loving family. Also, that Sara Palin is a strong lady, prepared to deal with a crisis in the right way when it unexpectedly arises.
Thank God for Pro-life Catholics.
Have you ever heard of a “surprise” pregnancy? Do we really have the right to question how a person gets pregnant? by choice or accident?
Really...do you think that anyone should ask her about this???? Have you not heard of women in their 40s having an accidental pregnancy because of cycle changes??? I sure have!!
It’s an obedience issue. Like you, I have had “great kids” do stupid things. We KNOW they know better! Yet, the flesh is weak all the same.
It goes back to the Garden of Eden. If the children of the Lord didn’t obey back then, why are we surprised that they don’t obey now?
Of course I have heard of surprise pregnancies. And, her pregnancy may indeed have been unplanned.
But most women who are truly motivated to avoid pregnancy can do so. And, again speaking in generalities, avoiding pregnancy when the risk of birth defects is greater seems a reasonable course to take.
If the pregnancy was planned, it was done with an elevated risk of Down Syndrome, which to me seems irresponsible.
I have read many comments on the appropriateness/morality of her choice, but none about potential, and I emphasize potential, irresponsibility. Being responsible is also a virtue.
Dear Fellow FRs:
I went to Office Depot today...They had a sale on DVDs...You know stuff that no one wants...2 for 1?
In this discount bin was John McCain’s life story.. Faith of My Father...I bought it...
I watched this tonight and thought...
My God, we do not know this man. We have no clue...yet we all need to learn from him.
Go to Office Deport tomorrow and buy the DVD... 9 dollars for two...Watch it and pass it on....
I’m sick to death at the small people still on this forum who continue to bad mouth McCain...I’ve come around... He’s a great American and we should be all proud that he is our candidate...
I have 60 days to promote this man...I’m tired of hearing the negatives from the bloggers here....You know who they are...
Let’s work to get our ticket elected...
Whether they did so out of ignorance, or stupidity remains to be seen. What is the difference you ask?
Ignorance can be cured with education...
As for stupidity, well, I'll let the late Robert A. Heinlein speak to that:
"Stupidity is the only universal capital crime. The sentence is automatic, and there is no appeal."
That is one of the most vulgar and disrespectful statements I've ever seen. And you joined FR today to post that?
So every mom who gives birth in her 40's is irresponsible? Cut me a break.
Welcome to FR. You guys are out in force with the agitprop tonight, huh?
You're a coward. Call her stupid if you want. Hide behind a question. Either way you're a libtard with a short tenure.
If another shows up, LL, let me know. I’m going to the brickyard.
