The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., likes to herald the independence of its new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.
And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."

And her membership in the Independent party 10-15 years ago is bad because. . . . ? I know a lot of registered Independents (mostly leftist leaners who are ashamed to register democrat), and they’re not frightening at all.
I have never seen the MSM go to the sewer for news the way they all have since Palin’s acceptance speech. They really have to be scared to go to such depths and sink so low.
Can I vote a straight Alaskan Independence Party ticket in Illinois? It won’t make a difference, anyway.

The Left is showing its desperation. The charges are coming thick and fast. None of them on their face amount to anything at all except for the conservatives’ tendency to take them as serious charges. They are becoming so various and petty that the whole weight of them will be a positive for Palin so long as she, and we do not get sucked into endlessly denying and refuting them or making excuses where nothing of substance is alleged.
