"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldnt be a topic of our politics."

“Its easy for BHO to take the high road when hes got the entire MSM and its lemmings at DU, Daily Kos, etc. to take the low road for him.”
BINGO! Don’t forget his surrogates that he is sending out all over the cable channels to ‘discuss’ the ‘news’ of a 17 year old girl getting pregnant.
I’m not the one praising an anti-American community organizer.
Barry, good cop. MSM, bad cop...
I’m not the one praising an anti-American community organizer.
Easy call for Obama. He can say back off and let surrogates trash talk.
The words are the right words, but I believe he is complicit in allowing others to trash the Palins on this matter.
That he came out and said this though, in no uncertain words, is GOOD. And Sarah Palin has as much control over her teenage daughter as any of us have over our teenagers.
That should be put in it’s own thread. Would you do it?
BHO is very afraid that there really is a Michele “whitey” tape out there.
The Messiah is obviously just trying to get the press to back off from reporting on Michelle's loony statements and/or looking into her equally troubling radical left associations and background.
Don't be so quick. As my mother used to tell me often when I was young and confused by the real world and it's shades of grey, "Remember, Hitler was especially fond of and kind to animals."
Because our political enemies are all equivalent to Hitler, right?
Good on Barack Obama. And no, I’m not going to qualify that with a “But....”
It’s a civil gesture and it should be taken civilly. If he has less than sincere motives, none of us here are situated to be privy to the fact, and I don’t see anything the least bit Christian in automatically supposing the worst of your enemies at every turn.
This thread should be filled with nothing but positive comments. The Barack bashing can continue in threads about his politics. This is not about his politics. This about respectful conduct. Please don’t make that last point an ironic one.
Really, guys, reading all the Palin comments on leftist boards, I’d like to think that we’re different, and won’t demonize people or undermine any virtuous qualities they exhibit or possess simply because they are on the other side. Please at least pretend to be nice so that we *do* come off better than the people we are opposing.
Remember the nutroots after the 2004 election, particularly MoveOn.org? "We bought this party, we own it", or something like that? Well, they did buy it, and if they keep it up, they are really going to "buy it" on election day, when they realize that the first woman legitimately working at 1600 Pennsylvania is a .........wait for it........
REPUBLICAN!!!
A wasted opportunity, and a series of reports likely to dominate the mainstream media for the next few weeks.
In a weird way, all this media brouhaha about Sarah Palin and Palin's daughter is only likely to interest more people to watch her acceptance speech. And that's a good thing!
Shouldn’t McCain be saying that, rather than Obama?
What’s with everyone?
SPEAK UP!! Get mad.
This isn’t going to be another Newt Gingrich wimp-out, is it?
Respectfully, I do not agree.
This is pure gratuitous theater.
I suspect most stronly that Marxist Obama expects his opposition peeps to keep up the negatives on Sarah's fine family (while he publicly pretends to object.)
My feeling is quite simple (as I nudge the topic toward Obama's malfeasances just slightly).
Let's keep the pressure up to examine, with all due publicity, Marxist Obama's dealings with the Annenberg Foundation, and his close friend and fellow traveler, America-hating, domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.
.
Oh boy, this really sucks. Having BO tossing his cpae across the puddle for our VP.
Window dressing, at best. Hollow words, most definitely.
