“McCain knew about Sarah’s 17-year-old daughter Bristol weeks ago. He was fine with the situation. Perhaps he sees the pregnancy as a way to spotlight how families should work together to deal with unplanned pregnancies.”

I haven’t heard him say that. Good try on helping him out with a motive. Let me ask you, if you were running for president, would you have handled the situation like he is?? Doesn’t it seem self destructive?

“As a civil nation, we should see such pregnancies as a gift and not a way to denigrate young people for their biological mistakes.”

That totally misses the point, and you know it.

And as far as bringing up Biden’s problems as a defense, it’s a poor strategy - like saying we’re no worse than they are.

Do you remember how you felt after her speech? Proud, excited, principled, a shoo in this november... How do you feel now? And do you think it’s the DUmmies fault or McCain and Palin’s?

It seems to me any reporter/left wing pundit who questions Bristol’s choice should be asked if they would have recommended that Obama’s mother, a single teenager, should have aborted Obama?

I said: “As a civil nation, we should see such pregnancies as a gift and not a way to denigrate young people for their biological mistakes.”

I ask: Should we now denigrate the mothers of daughters who make biological mistakes?

As far as the thinking that As for McCain's motives, it was not something he was trying to sweep this under the rug. Far from it. There were other things to of concern. First of concern was the hurricane. Hurricane Gustav. Why should the Republicans have their festive Convention when people are suffering in the Gulf? McCain was thinking about the hurricane. He ordered the Convention scaled down and his wife called for Americans to rally together to help those affected by the storm.

As for Bristol's pregnancy, no biggy. The Palin family will deal with it with strength and sensitivity. Why should everyone have a cow over it? No family is perfect. Joe Biden’s family is one. Obama was conceived out of wedlock. John Edwards had an extra marital affair. Shall we go on?

It is of course, no reason to kick Sarah Palin under the bus. As I asked before, should we now denigrate the mothers of daughters who make biological mistakes?

I think you would be better off worrying about hurricanes.
