I am all for not bashing Bristol and her family, but this is getting too much. Glorifying pre-marital sex is just something I never would have witnessed on FR. I am thrilled she is keeping the baby, but let’s not be in jubilation over a 17 year old having a baby. Sheesh...

No one is in jubilation over a teen having pre-marital sex. We are in jubilation of her keeping the baby, accepting the consequences courageously and her family supporting her.

What a stark contrast to liberals who would slaughter the baby in order to do what Eric Cartman (yes I'm quoting South Park here) said: "Abortion is the ultimate form of cheating! You're cheating nature itself!"

Having pre-marital sex wasn't an act of heroism, and I haven't witnessed here anyone glamorizing it. But the way the family are handling this is laudable as it is the only RIGHT way.

"Glorifying pre-marital sex is just something I never would have witnessed of FR"

Please point out where pre-marital sex is being glorified on FR.

For some reason the view here at FR on pre-marital sex has changed drastically over the last eight months.

It was just eight months ago when the world found out the 16 year old Jamie Lee Spears was pregnant and the view on Miss. Spears pregnancy was somewhat different than it is for Miss. Pailin's.

The "jubilation" (which is too strong a word) is not over having a baby, it's over not aborting a baby. The distinction is crucial.

The pregnancy itself is unfortunate—but in the absence of any evidence that Sarah condoned such activity by her daughter, or failed in her duty to properly instruct her daughter in the matter, it has no bearing on Sarah's fitness for office.

No one is in jubilation a 17 year old is having a baby. People are in jubilation because a 17 year is not killing her baby.

I'm not really cheering the situation, I think we were all shocked by the news. However I'd be a major hypocrite if I condemned her.

Yet now with the disgusting freaks from the left in full assault mode and after a 17 girl who's keeping her child, I think they need our support more than ever. It's not saying "you go girl" so much as "we'll help get you through this with moral support."

So the scorecard is two more kids the left couldn't get killed. You can bet their ghouls are raving bonkers over it...

My Grandmother conceived my Mother outside the bounds of marriage in 1932. She and my Grandfather married and were together until his death in 1996. They were the light of our lives, the best of the best and no one could deny the goodness of these two people. I suspect that they have a very special place in Heaven - for surely a loving Lord saw all of their wonderful works of kindness, mercy and goodness performed in their life together. God Bless them.....

Getting pregnant at 17 out of wedlock is obviously wrong and is frankly a sin (missing the mark). I'm sure the Palins have explained that and discussed that and I hope Bristol understands that spiritually, and that there are also very practical reasons which will soon be experienced by the entire family. All that being said, its a reality. And the beautiful child that is coming is certainly not at fault. And certainly Bristol has not compounded the error, by taking the offer which this twisted world offers her of terminating the young innocent child. The one thing that the liberals and the world in general don't understand about the “Religious Right” and the “Evangelicals” is that they are all about understanding and forgiveness, and love. Especially in this area. No we should not and do not celebrate premarital sex. We need to discuss this in the light of repentance and we should not in anyway hold it up as a righteous or recommended action. It is wrong. However in this case it is a reality and the family must now make the best of it. This baby will be a blessed child, whom the family and all of us should love and welcome. Bristol is now in need of the unconditional love that God has displayed toward all of us. We are all sinners and we all miss the mark at times in our own lives. Certainly let us not celebrate the sin, but let us celebrate the beautiful child that is coming, and the beautiful choice that Bristol has made after the fact.

May God Bless the Palin Family!

We are all human and make mistakes. The Palin family is not anymore perfect than the rest of us. The only good news from this story is that the values instilled in their daughter will allow the baby to live and that the father will do the right thing and be the father within marriage. That is the responsible and honorable thing to do under difficult circumstances. For that they deserve our praise.

Its not that we are glorifying the premarital sex. But now that she is doing the responsible thing by keeping the baby and getting married, we need to do our part by supporting and encouraging her. Part of what drives young girls toward abortion is the feeling that they will be ostracised if it becomes clear that they are pregnant.

Coming out of FReeper retirement for this one because I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

In Alaska in winter, it's cold and dark and as a result babies happen. If you ever listen to hockey players talk, this is a regular occurrence. And it's been happening for tens of thousands of years in every family in every civilization.

I'm not condoning anything other than living with the consequences of choices. The poor girl is probably embarrassed as it is. In giving her child life, she's following her mother's example. Good for her.

Doesn’t matter - the rules re: pre-marital sex don’t matter when the people involved are from the Right. /sarc

Would we see the same reactions if it were Biden’s daughter who was involved in an immoral relationship?

God has a plan for Sarah Palin and her family. There is a chance that a Downs Baby and an unwed mother’s baby will be in the WH rather than 2 dumpsters. For that we should be praising God and praying for the families.

Pray for W, Palin and Our Troops

I don't see a bit of jubilation that a 17 year old got pregnant, but a lot that she has guts like her mother and values her own child's life over her own "freedom".

Every thing is in proper order here, relax. -grin-

I suspect most people here would say that it would have been wiser for Bristol and her boyfriend/fiancé to have waited until they were married before having sex, so as to avoid subjecting a baby to the possibility of being raised without a father. Since it seems the boyfriend/fiancé is going to stick around, however, things should turn out okay.

Having apparently survived that risk, Bristol's pregnancy serves to undermine abortion advocates' claim that "pro-life people only oppose abortion because none of them are unexpectedly pregnant". Such claims resonate very well in the heads of those with Liberal Mind Fog Disorder, so undermining such claim will be very helpful.
