If we could only get the media to look into Barack Obama’s back ground with the same fervor and passion.

Ted Kennedy got $14B for the Big Dig.
Robert Byrd is famous for garnering money for W VA.

I expect the mayor of a small town to seek federal money -- are they arguing that she was pulling strings?? She was a nobody -- but apparently an extremely effective nobody. I say good on her.

I guess we should look at Obama ear marks and his payoffs. Resko and Michelle Obama. Most towns apply for Federal money non Story.

Ah, another blatant attempt to turn conservatives against the McCain-Palin ticket.

Mayor: part of the job is to bring in whatever good for the town you can, including employment opportunities, infrastructure and cultural improvements.

It sounds like she was just doing her job.

If people have problems with that much federal grant money being available, they need to address that problem at the source.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor,

So basically the article is sayiong she did her job? What the people elcted her to do? I’m okay with that..
The one thing I do have a problem with is terms such as Federal earmarks Federal funds Federal money. The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has no money. It makes no money, it quite honestly earns no money. Any money the Federal Government has originally came from the very people it gets back to. Such as the town Palin represented as mayor

Sarah has never said she is against earmarks. She is against WASTEFUL earmark spending. The vast majority of this money sounds like it was spent on infrastructure needs.

Did I read that the outlying community that Wasillo serves includes more than 70,000 additional people??

I don't see the problem! This just shows that she did her job. We received 10 million for a highway widening project in my town. Communities offset project costs with State and Federal funds. This is just an attempt to turn conservatives against her.

The federal government consistently constrains Alaska’s revenue by denying permission for drilling.

Palin has made the point that Alaska would love to become more self sufficient if the feds would allow more exploitation of natural resources, AND boost energy production for the good of the nation. (CNBC interview with Maria Bartiromo)

But what about Charlie Rangel's Monument to Me and Sheets Byrd's various centers in West Virginia?

I guess the MSM isn't interested in those...

Palin's small town secured big federal funds

So they admit the mayor did her job, and did it well.

All the left is doing is pointing out that Palin has experience and Obambi has never voted for a darn thing.

He was “Present.”

Obama’s Chicago Annenberg Challenge (per wikipedia): $139 million to improve education with this outcome.

“Results suggest that among the schools it supported, the Challenge had little impact on school improvement and student outcomes, with no statistically significant differences between Annenberg and non-Annenberg schools in rates of achievement gain, classroom behavior, student self-efficacy, and social competence.”

Obama is good at spending other people’s money without result.

What people do not know is that Wasilla is the hub of many small communities located in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley that has had its roads and infrastructure built in the 70’s and with our arctic conditions roads here barely last 5 years, population has exploded just outside of Wasilla in new housing tracts and thus schools had to be built.

I have seen it all for over a decade up front as I manage a concrete batch plant in Wasilla, all federal funding was sorely needed and we desperately need more because every day people keep moving here and now I expect a veritable stampede that will be almost like the gold rush days because Wasilla is in the international spotlight.
