Noonan says Palin is a “Hail Mary pass” on McCain’s part. That may be true. However, the current attack on her also has all of the elements of a Hail Mary pass. If it fails to take her down, this election is over.

More of the excellent analysis that I've come to admire here at FR.

Thanks!

While I don't agree with Peggy that the Palin nomination is a "Hail Mary" pass, I do agree with you (and Peggy: "She could become a transformative political presence. So they are going to have to kill her, and kill her quick.") that the Dems attack certainly is one. They are scared.

As to the rhetorical question, "Can she take it?", I'm reminded of Governor Palin's joke, "What's the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom?" Punchline: Lipstick.

I have the feeling that his lady will prove to be more than tough enough. I agree with Rush's comment that this attack on Governor Palin could backfire on the libs even more than the debacle at the Wellstone funeral did.
