Yep, looks like Miami-Ft Lauderdale are definately going to be “in play” with Ike.

Ike looks like really bad news

IMHO I don't believe there's enough stored energy(heat) in either the Caribbean nor the Gulf to create to sustain a major hurricane(CAT 4,5). At best all I see Ike as an middling Cat 3 and that's if it gets into the Gulf. Any storm that goes along the Eastern seaboard will weaken quickly before it can do any serious damage.

Just my two cents....
