"Enemy" is "Source" of Palin Affair Rumor (Vanity)
National Review ^ | 9/3/08 | Byron York

Posted on 09/03/2008 3:16:50 PM PDT by JennysCool

Excuse the vanity, but the "affair" story seems to be getting more circulation, and credence, than it deserves. Byron York at the National Review got a copy of the National Enquirer story (which is below), which indicates the source of the smear is an "enemy" of Palin.

I'd like to know the last time a publication -- even one as questionable as the Enquirer -- published a story which had "charges" by an "enemy" as its only source.

We thought US was bad.

The pertinent section is below:

Another incredible allegation emerging from the family war is that Palin, a mother of five, had an affair with a former business associate of her fisherman husband, Todd.

“Todd discovered the affair and quickly dissolved his friendship and his business associations with the guy,” charges an enemy. “Many people in Alaska are talking about the rumor and say Todd swept it under the rug.”

And that’s it, as far as the affair is concerned. In the brief cover story, the Enquirer also says this:

The ugly family feud stems from a three-year battle between the 44-year-old governor and her former brother-in-law, state trooper Mike Wooten.

“Sarah has many enemies in her hometown – but a lot of them are in her own extended family,” a source close to the Palin family told The Enquirer.

Family members loyal to Wooten are now waging a campaign to drag Palin’s reputation through the mud.

I sincerely hope that a number of slander and libel suits filed by the Palin family will be shortly forthcoming...

Basically, the national mainstream media is willingly letting themselves be played like a cheap fiddle for the amusement of Sarah Palin's enemies in Alaska.

SERIOUSLY! I have never seen a press so eager to destroy before. They have spent more time in 5 days, going through the sand on Palin than they have in 19months on Obomba!

When is Biden going to finally wise up and drop that sleazebag Barack Hussein Obama from the ticket?

So is it the Obama campaign or the media offering $5,000 for dirt on Palin?

The media is using the enemies of Palin in Alaska to play the fiddle for Obama...make no doubt about that.

OMG, I can’t keep up with the rumors!

John Edwards. He’s screwing around on his dying wife...not a word. Elizabeth is getting Chemo and out on the road campaigning....no one worried if children were being taken care of! We know their father didn’t have time!

Err, um, have you ever been to Free Republic before?

This is a rumor originating in the National Enquirer that mainstream news organizations are now picking up, and it needs to be noted in no uncertain terms that the Enquirer’s “source” is described as an “enemy” of Sarah Palin.

I can’t imagine a family member try to stop someone from something like President of the US...You would really, really have to hate them. Just the association itself would be enough to put differences aside. I don’t believe this for one moment.
