Obama's "community organizer" phase was about political power, not soup kitchens
Windy Citizen ^ | July 28, 2008 | John Maki

If you've heard the term, you likely learned about it through Barack Obama's memoir or one of his speeches where he talks about his time working in poor neighborhoods on Chicago's South Side in the 1980s. He refers to this time in his life a lot. Obama leans on it, hard, while stumping. But what does it mean?

What do community organizers actually do? How do they do it? And how has Obama's experience as a community organizer shaped his run for the presidency?

Since 2002, I have worked with several Chicago-based community organizers and even done some organizing myself. My experience has taught me to view Barack Obama, Chicago's most famous community organizer, in a different light than you will likely encounter from most political commentators.

Community organizing is old-fashioned, bare-knuckle politics for the little guy.

Were you picturing Obama in a soup kitchen instead? It is not your fault. When Obama talks about his time as a community organizer, he does not go beyond a vague and benign description of how he worked with unemployed steelworkers and their families to fight for change. Media coverage of Obama's days as a community organizer has not been much better. Most journalists tend either to repeat stories that Obama has told in his books, or merely interview people who worked with him at the time without giving you a clear idea of what community organizing entails.

Appalling article. Thanks for the insight. Obama must be stopped. He is a phony of the highest order.

Community organizer = finding people to vote for more social programs that benefit themselves in exchange for political votes

A direct or indirect payoff for votes.

It’s called fraud (see ACORN) but because most of these crooks are minorities, they are exempt from scrutiny for political correct reasons.

Get it?

I heard a mOuthpiece from hOlyman’s campaign tonight on LKLive who spoke of the glOry days of Barry’s cOmmunity Organizing and how it improved peoples’ lives and neighborhoods. I sure would like to see some pictures of those “improved” communities today.

Isn’t a community organizer what we used to call a black agitator?

He worked for ACORN, an organization known for voter fraud, whose workers have been convicted of voter fraud in Missouri and other states. Quite a “resume booster”....

Sarah Palin spent her time in political office making things better for her fellow citizens.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinto spent their time in political office schmoozing other politicians to gain political support for their dreams of higher office.

Someone on a Hillary website mentioned that Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin were all community organizers.

I think the same poster even asked if they could say that McCarthy was right.

You are right wac3rd. I was born on the South Side and I always remember my old man calling them “Arm Twisters”. They always danced on the line of legal and illegal.

Well, when he mafiaed his way into the IL Senate, he worked to get millions of dollars funding to his benefactor, Tony ‘the Syrian national’ Rezko, to renovate Chicago Apartment buildings to house the ‘under privileged’ ... of course the improvements failed due to shoddy and below code work and materials so the projects were shut down or required more tens of millions to be done right after Rezko moved on. When Obama cites ‘community organizer’ he's referring to the community he and Tony and Alsammarae live in, and his organizing was to have himself moved into the upper echelon of Chicago housing. Some great organizing that.

“Community organizing”:

Is for political wannabees with no solutions or ideas of their own, just ambitions; political ambitions.

I have never understood what a community organizer did. Who pays the bills? Is this a salaried job, a job fueled by protection money? Commission based? I just don’t get the gig.

apparently the left wing MSM thinks that political organizing is better preparation for managing the country than running a city or state government.
