Many Brits can feel overawed when talking with Americans. A sense of insecurity falls and they resort to confirming the worst suspicions of the UK to there American friends in an effort to, i don’t know, ingratiate them.

There are great values in the UK and ones that we cherish with all our heart. Values that go against the grain of the government, but the British people are united in spirit. We know our country is one of the most important to have been created in human history. Without us, the world would have taken a very different path indeed, and not for the better.

We have a superlative military. From the RAF, to the RN, to the Army, full-time and reservists, they are professional and dedicated to defending these shores against all threats, foreign and domestic.

This self-deprecating attitude that Brits exhibit towards Americans is just another way of not bragging, and sometimes a lie repeated often enough becomes interpreted fact. Sure, we have our good people and bad, honourable deeds and villanous acts, but the values that the English have are the same ones we had that forged this country during the middle ages.

I am afraid that I have not stated things well enough to be understood, that you have misunderstood my train of thought, short though it was....

She regrets the loss of the pre WWII culture, and regrets the growing dominance of islam.

For adults over 50, I imagine that the current state of things in the UK is less than satisfactory. She speaks of young men running wild in gangs in the streets.

I just read an article which described a housing authority board or some elected group of people being required to keep fasting during ramadan whether they were muslim or not, in an effort not to offend those who were...

http://islaminaction08.blogspot.com/2008/08/uk-ramadan-imposed-on-non-muslim.html

Does that sound like British pluck to you?

I am well aware that the things you write are correct in large part. Do not misunderstand that I mean that British values are inferior to American values generally.

My Friend has mourned the loss of those very values BECAUSE of the loss of the homogeneous nature that British culture was...just like the growing balkanization of the US...There Is NO STRENGTH in DIVERSITY. There must be a common language and culture for the greatest strength; common expectations and social mores...

A Hegelian Dialectic is being worked upon the American Public this election season in the assertion by Democrats that America is “broken” and a substitute communist framework will be put in place when enough people are convinced of the bogus crisis and accept the unthinkable solution, which is not needed at all...

So it has happened in Britain. Politically correct efforts to “prevent a group from being offended” result in the sacrifice and diminishing of stalwart, hearty and faithful British Characteristics and traditions.

We mourn the oppression of Britain. And you are right. They are gentle and self deprecating, which is probably how this state of things gained such a foothold.

I believe at the foundation of the trouble is spiritual weakness.

I think that when a culture abandons truth and the Author of it, the replacement spirituality is always undesirable.

Good to talk with you!
