Forget fired. Whoever did this oughta be up on charges. And if screwing around with the press credentials at this kind of event isn't illegal, it darn well ought to be.
At the very very least, someone or someones ought to lose press credentials permanently and be banned from future conventions as long as they live. That would have to require vetting by some other identifer than name. But this is America, we can figure out how to do that.
