so you are saying that you are catholic with a small ‘c’ meaning universal. Many proptestants could fall under that category.
But you are also saying that you are NOT a Catholic with a capital ‘C’.
Am I correct?
Exactly what church/denomination do you attend then?
I tried to answer this in Post #22 (kellyna had the same question). My intent wasn't so much to be cryptic - but I didn't think it was germane to the original post (i.e., my suggestion that Mr. Newsom should get the 'boot' from the church), and I hadn't intended to get into interdenominational discussions. But essentially you are correct. From my Post #22:
The Wikipedia definition looks close enough, and is convenient for cut and paste:
Catholic is an adjective derived from the Greek adjective 'καθολικός' / 'katholikos', meaning "general" or "universal" [1] In the context of Christian ecclesiology it has a rich history and several usages. Roman Catholics use the term "Catholic Church" to refer to the Church, whether Western or Eastern, in full communion with the Bishop of Rome. Protestants use it to refer to the entire body of believers in Jesus Christ.
Part of the entire body of believers in Jesus Christ (Catholic): Yes.
In "full communion with the Bishop of Rome" (Roman Catholic): No.
Which church/denomination do I attend? Currently an independent Baptist church. Based on sermons I've heard, and from what I've read on their website, I'd prefer the Free Presbyterian Church -- however there aren't any in California, let alone the SF Bay Area.
God Bless.
