IT'S TIME TO VET OBAMA ALONG WITH PALIN
Chatham Republicans ^ | August 30, 2008 | Chatham Republicans

IT'S TIME TO VET OBAMA ALONG WITH PALIN The reaction of Republicans and conservatives to the selection of Sarah Palin has been overwhelmingly positive. Predictably, starting with the Obama campaign itself, Democrats have sneered at Palin as a small town mayor and governor of a state with a population (600,000) smaller than many mid-size cities in the U.S. Yet she has more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined.

A few thoughtful conservatives such as Charles Krauthammer think that the Palin selection was a mistake because it takes the issue of Obama inexperience and "readiness to lead" off the table.

Most disagree. Obama is still totally inexperienced in foreign policy and national defense, as he demonstrates on an almost daily basis. McCain's advantage is still universally acknowledged. McCain has been a fighter against corruption and pork; Obama is still someone who played ball with "the good old boys" and practiced pork politics.

The choice of Palin opens up some new territory for examination. The mainstream media will now go over Palin's history with a fine tooth comb because she's an "unknown." But the media have failed or refused to do that kind of examination of Obama's history. After months and months of soaring rhetoric about "hope" and "change" Obama is still a mystery to many because the media hasn't done its job.

Some examples of media neglect:

Palin is a fighter against corruption and waste in government. What has Obama done in his years in the Illinois senate and in Washington? He has indulged in pork barrel politics and played ball with Chicago's patronage-ridden Democratic machine, which is running his campaign. But you wouldn't know that if you just read the newspapers and watch television.

For many months bloggers have been asking the Obama campaign to open up the birth records in Hawaii. The campaign has refused and has only offered a copy of a supposed birth certificate to a left wing website that at least three forensic experts claim is a forgery. Not a word of this controversy has been seen in the national media. Since the matter can be cleared up easily by authorizing access to the original official records, why hasn't the Obama campaign done that?

Long-time Obama friend and fundraiser Tony Rezko, who helped Obama financially in his purchase of his Chicago mansion, has been convicted of 16 counts of political corruption. The media has brushed off the association. Why was Rezko, of Middle East origins who obtained large loans from an Iraqi convicted of grand theft from the Iraqi government, so eager to help Obama?

What has shaped Obama's economic views? Before college his mentor (as identified in Obama's first book) in Hawaii was or had been a member of the Communist Party of the U.S. who railed against the American economic system and white capitalist oppression. Obama's book also disclosed he sought out socialists and black power advocates while in college and progressively distanced himself from his mother's race (which is white). The media shrugs, even though Obama continued his association with haters of America and advocates of black power against white oppression by joining forces with "God Damn America" Reverend Jeremiah Wright for 20 years. He helped organize Nation of Islam's Million Man March and found inspiration in the words of black power zealot Louis Farrakhan. Why did he go to Chicago to learn the Alinsky method of community organizing for socialism, which stresses hiding the real purpose of changing the American economic system by uttering vague appeals to "hope" and "change"? Is none of this relevant?

Recently, sources outside the mainstream media have brought to light Obama's fight against the Illinois Born Alive Act and the fact he lied about why he opposed saving the lives of babies who survived failed abortions. Also, Obama's close association with unrepentant terrorist bomber William Ayers has been ignored by the media and only came to public light through a privately financed TV ad, which the Obama campaign is trying to force off the air.

So, as the digging into the life story of Palin begins, voters should demand that the same diligence be given to Obama's history, from birth to today. Obama's inexperience is known, but his character and the shaping of his worldview are not. Why are so many haters of America his friends? So far, the media has taken Obama's words as the last word. There is too much at stake in this election for the media not to live up to its obligations to the American public.

There is another reason why Palin is a big plus for McCain. She is an expert on energy, a champion of drilling now, including in ANWR (which is in Alaska). For many Americans gasoline prices are at the top of their list of concerns. Palin has been and is a strong voice for America to use its own resources to end dependence on hostile and unstable oil producers. Even if oil prices come down somewhat, America has finally learned its lesson: Let's rely on ourselves as much as we can.

There's much more to like about the selection of Palin, but these two reasons alone justify the choice. Let's finally learn the full Obama story as we learn the full Palin story.

And drill now.

Your article is spot on. Vet both Palin and Obama and let the public know where all the skeletons are immediately!!! Palin is new, so we will look to hear about her in the next few weeks. But... how has Senator Obama gotten this far without a thorough and extensive vetting? In addition to the information you referenced above, he needs to also answer/respond to the following, or voters need not and WILL NOT vote for him in 60+ days:

*His Columbia Thesis paper (He says he can't find it) *His Harvard College records (have been sealed) *His Selective Service Registration (not releasing it at all) *His actual medical records ( NOT his personal MD giving a statement to the press saying Obama is fit) •His Illinois State Senate records (He claims he did NOT keep records??? ) •His Illinois State Senate schedule (He says they are lost) *His Law practice client list (not available) *A Certified Copy of his original Birth certificate the elongated form that shows MD signature and official seal (a COLB will not suffice) *Any and all Harvard Law Review articles that were published(Says he never wrote anything as the PRESIDENT of Harvard Law Review, but what about BEFORE) *His University of Chicago scholarly articles (Claims he can't locate any) *His Record of baptism (Says he has no record of this event) *List of names, addresses and people connected with him during his time in New York *His passport information regarding his Pakistan trip when he was 18 or 20 years of age

The public needs to demand proof of all of the above on Obama as soon as possible. And American public must hold him and Palin accountable to PRODUCE ALL VETTING REQUESTED INFORMATION before the first debate in Mississippi!!!!

Alaska USA
The Census Bureau’s Population Estimates Program (PEP) produces July 1 estimates for years after the last published decennial census (2000). Existing data series such as births, deaths, and domestic and international immigration, are used to update the decennial census base counts. PEP estimates are used in federal funding allocations, in setting the levels of national surveys, and in monitoring recent demographic changes.
With each new issue of July 1 estimates, PEP revises estimates for years back to the last census. Previously released estimates are superseded. Revisions to estimates for prior years are usually due to input data updates, changes in methodology, or legal boundary changes.
Population, 2006 estimate 670,053 299,398,484
Population, percent change, April 1, 2000 to July 1, 2006 6.9% 6.4%

The only thing I would like to see "vetted" when it comes to the fabulous Sarah Palin, is her clear cut position, one way or another, on the Kennedy-McCain Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill of 2007 and whether she would have supported or opposed it as the tie-breaking vote in the United States Senate as Vice President. Amidst the euphoria, can we put the kool-aid down, fellow Americans, just long enough to ask this important question?

And today, whether she supports the revised 2008 GOP Platform on Illegal Immigration to it's fullest, or whether she has flexibility on the issue of "Amnesty" and "Bridge to Citizenship"?

Obama needs no more vetting in my book. He is hopeless.

Seriously, folks, when can we hear specifically on this issue out of the Vice Presidential Candidate's campaign camp and policy advisors? It is not being addressed and it was the hottest issue in the beginning of the GOP primaries. For what reason is it now off the table?

While Alaska is demographically small, it is the largest state geographically - and that brings lots of challenges of the type that Obambi has never had to face, let alone overcome. Alaska is also the state with the harshest climate (though as a resident of south Texas I can claim that we're close), again bringing challenges unlike those anywhere else for a government. Further, Alaska is the only US state that has borders only with foreign countries - again, a challenge that Obambi has never faced.

Oh, and NONE of the mayors in the US has ever had to face these same set of problems, no matter the size of the city.

Keep at it Dems, you'll find that Sarahcuda isn't going to take your psychobabble sitting down - she's going to stalk it, shoot it, field dress it, cook it and eat it for breakfast.

I don’t know why the FBI would not look into all this, but the press is hoping it’s all legit. That’s the kind of guy they would love in the White House.

Let's assume the worst case, that McCain & Palin have the same exact stance on illegal immigrants as Obambi & Plugs. OK, what're you going to do, stay home? After all, there are about 100 other important issues out there on which it is CRYSTAL CLEAR that the people with a "D" after their names will be an utter disaster, and the "R" people either great, good, fair or less of a disaster.

While I view illegal immigration as a key issue (my wife is a legal immigrant, now a citizen...who will vote against Obambi), it ain't the only one. You really have to take all of the issues on which the D & R parties are similar or identical - because those offer no chance to discern between good vs. bad (or bad vs. worse, depending on one's outlook).

That said, I'd also like to hear her stance - but don't expect a VP to tell you that he/she has a vastly different view than his/her boss...that isn't going to happen. It doesn't mean that the view isn't different, just that you won't hear it in public.

Nobody said anything about "assuming".

I and a number of Freepers whom I have been talking with via Freepmail want to know what the facts are. That's all.

For starters, you do agree with me that we should be able to know what the situation is, correct?

That is is first base, at the very least. Let us get to that first. Last time I looked, we FREEPERS were a solid group of reasoning, debating and investigating people, not a bunch of trained ostriches in a fenced in pen.

Palin's a good gal, but the way that conservatives have unquestioningly flocked to her and praised her and called her "Reagan in a skirt" is a bit how the liberals unquestioningly flocked to Obama and praised him and joked about him being "The One."

Conduct your due diligence on Gov. Palin, folks.

And just remember to watch McCain when he holds up Sarah Palin in order to distract conservatives from his agenda of joining with liberal Democrats to enact Big Government (known in some countries as "Socialism").

We all know about most of this. As long as the MSM doesn’t report it, we are pretty much preaching to the choir. Having Sean Hannity hammer Rev Wright day after day finally got it into the MSM, but it’s not enough. We need to email every MSM outlet, bombard them with articles and questions as to why they won’t write about this stuff.

It probably isn’t the FBI’s job to do so, at least for the birth certificate thing. For the other stuff, they can’t do anything about who a man chooses as friends. Since it’s a constitutional issue of eligibility, it’s the FEC that supposedly verifies it but there has been nothing procedurally set up since the inception of our republic. For one thing, no one under 35 has ever tried to get the job. And until today, no one ever tried going for the big kahuna job without a verifiable birth record.
