Media descends on Wasilla in hot pursuit of latest nutroots smear

A follow-up to Ed’s post last night about the Enquirer’s allegation of an affair, which metastasized via our privacy-defendin’ progressive superiors into the charge that the smoking gun lay buried in the divorce papers of Todd Palin’s former business partner, Scott Richter. Why else, after all, would Richter seek an emergency order to seal those records?

Answer: Because he’s tired of him and his kid being harassed by press vultures and nutroots cranks.

The liberal blogosphere was abuzz Friday with news that a friend of Sarah and Todd Palin had tried to seal his divorce records…

[A] stream of journalists and couriers from NBC, the Los Angeles Times, Court TV and other outlets (including this reporter, presently serving as Politico’s Alaska bureau) [made] their way to the Palmer courthouse to photocopy, at 25 cents a page, the 75 or so pages in the Richters’ marriage dissolution file.

Hence, Scott Richter’s motion this week to seal the file, in which he wrote, “I am friends an [sic] landowners in a remote cabin property with [the Palins] and as her campaign moves forward, my phone #’s and addresses are being used thru this file to obtain unwanted contact daily. My cabin life and private life is extremely important to me and my young son, who find ourselves and our lives disrupted by such contact.”…

Those who couldn’t make it to the Palmer courthouse in person were out of luck for much of Friday, since the court’s website crashed from all the traffic directed to it by a link on Andrew Sullivan’s blog.

The picture of Ayers standing on the flag should pop up everywhere until all of America wants to know what’s the story with “OBAMA’S BEST FRIEND!”.

Getting a sympathetic judge to “unseal” a political opponent’s divorce papers and publicizing any weird or dirty details therein has been Obama’s very best trick to winning elections these past few years.

This time, he won’t actually have to order any of his own lackeys to do the deed.

Don’t weep for us, weep for the poor newsies here in what must seem a foriegn land.

My wife works with one of the Palin’s neighbors and she had reporters creeping through her yard like a bunch of low budget French commandos. We’re going to have such sport with them..... :)

I noticed that they closed it for comments. I would have loved to unloaded on him about his useless union as it concerns the rank and file (personal knowledge thereof).

An unknown mother of 5 from smalltown Alaska has the entire American left experiencing heart palpitations!

If a reporter approached me with such personal questions, I'd throw it right back in their face. I'd ask them some personal questions. I'd ask them why they are so un-curious about Obama's past..... Frank Davis, Ayers, Dohrn, Rezko, his mother's communist affiliations, his father's drunken statism...the whole works.

I guarantee you they love to ask questions, but they shut down when you ask them questions. We saw that with Newt this week, and I've seen it with Baba Wawa.

They're nothing but a bunch of card-reading robots. They can't think.

Those poor people in Wasilla. I just hope they figure out a way to make money off of this.

Of course they will. The motels will be full. The diners will be crowded. The bars will double their business. Even the kids can open lemonade stands. Enough foreign money to revitalize the economy.

In spite of the business, it would be a great time for an early snowstorm.

Is it legal to shoot trespassers in Alaska? We can only hope.

Why are the United Steel Workers so upset? They're treating her as if Congress isn't responsible for submitting bills to become the laws of the land and can't override a veto ~~~~ IF the UAW produces factual documentation to back up their claims to Congress.

From what I read here earlier last week, Union Members still have the right to vote for whomever they please as long as they tell the Union Bosses what they want to hear. And some Union Members are going to vote Republican.

I think this "she's not an auxiliary member" could backfire among the rank and file.

I can’t believe I actually hit his tip jar six years ago.

$40 spent and I am ashamed.

It was only two years ago that Sarah beat out an incumbent governor and a former governor. One would think that any dirt older than two years would be pretty freshly dug - I’m sure her opponents were using the biggest shovels they had. Their isn’t anything on Sarah.

“If I were a citizen of Wasilla as soon as the reporters arrived the town would turn into Dodge City just before a gun battle....not a human in sight.”

The press is just a delight to watch in a remote rural setting. I’m pinging Jeff & some others to verify this story, because I got it second hand. In 2000, some of us went to a place called Jarbidge Nevada for a 4th of July ‘celebration’. The press had been thick for days, some were cool. It was fun watching the bleached blonde ‘reporters’ climbing hills to set up a camera in heels. I digress...

When it was over and everyone (Media trucks and all) were heading out....on one lane winding, steep, dirt road, one of the media rigs (CNN?) started honking...he got in a hurry.

Everyone else decided, well, it must be time for a break, so they ALL stopped, got out, had some refreshments and good conversation and when the press decided to proceed civilly without honking they went on.

People of the land don’t like to be pushed.

Not sure how you attach it. There is an HTML toolbox somewhere on here. Good luck, as it should be attached for all to see.
