Pro-abortion Politicians Are Not Above Church Law (Pelosi and Biden)
The Post Chronicle ^ | Sep 6, 2008 | Michael J. Gaynor

Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver: "Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is a gifted public servant of strong convictions and many professional skills. Regrettably, knowledge of Catholic history and teaching does not seem to be one of them. . . . Abortion kills an unborn, developing human life. It is always gravely evil, and so are the evasions employed to justify it. Catholics who make excuses for it – whether they're famous or not – fool only themselves and abuse the fidelity of those Catholics who do sincerely seek to follow the Gospel and live their Catholic faith."

Speaker Pelosi prompted Archbishop Chaput's public statement by describing herself on "Meet The Press" as an ardent Catholic and then proceeding to say that her Church does not know when life begins.

The truth is that Speaker Pelosi is an ardent abortion supporter and an apostate Catholic who has been permitted to receive Holy Communion for years in violation of church law.

It is a scandal.

"As Pope Benedict XVI explained, 'There may be a legitimate diversity of opinion even among Catholics about waging war and applying the death penalty, but not however with regard to abortion and euthanasia.'

"And here is where the rubber meets the road for Catholics like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and their followers, to whom they are giving examples of grave moral error, or scandal, as it is known in the Church (from same article)

EXCUSE ME? Of course they are! It says in the Bible, "There is no greater authority than the almighty liberal/socialist Democrat. You shall have no other gods above Him."

Nothing is above GOD! That is the heart of their problem.

The left loves to say “We are a Nation of laws!” when it suits them, but when they break the law, it’s called “Civil disobedience”. It’s a matter of ignoring laws you don’t agree with, while, of course, your opponent is held to the letter in whatever way the left interprets it. Why should their approach to Church law be any different?

When the amnesty fiasco broke out in Congress, I called my two Senators - Tom Carper and Old Joe Biden. I asked one simple question:”Illegal immigrants are breaking the law. What law do I get to break?”

The response from both was......... (still waiting).

Same question to the bishops:”What commandment do I get to break?”

I'm not Catholic and perhaps lack sufficient knowledge of Church law and procedure on this issue, but it seems to me that the Church ought to just cut to the chase and excommunicate pro-abortion politicians by name so there is no ambiguity. Can someone please explain to me why this hasn't happened and/or won't happen.

Becuase the Catholic church doesn't want to seem like it is meddling in politics. Remember how Kennedy had to convince people that he wouldn't be taking orders from Rome because he was Catholic.

Still, doing nothing is not the answer either.
