The X Factor

Gloria Steinem, in her September 4th editorial in the Los Angeles Times, came out strongly against Governor Palin claiming the only thing women have in common with Palin is an X chromosome. I respectfully disagree. Governor Palin knows what it is like to be a woman, a mother, a daughter, a sister - things the two men on the Democratic ticket can never fully understand. She knows what it is like to grow up invisible in an incredibly sexist society, to be stared at, groped, and sexually harassed. She knows what it is like to be smaller in stature than men and physically vulnerable. She knows what it’s like to worry that you are pregnant when you don’t want to be or that you are not pregnant when you want to be. Sarah Palin knows what it is to experience the joys and sorrows of motherhood, to nurse a baby while holding down a job, to leave for work in the morning with a toddler tugging at your pant leg, or to have your children calling you at work to diffuse squabbles or ask for help with homework. She knows that once you get to work you have to speak twice as loud and twice as often to be heard and work twice a hard to go half as far. She knows what it is to be a member of the second sex.

(snip)

After the last Democratic Primary was over and it was clear Senator Clinton was not going to get the Democratic nomination, myself, and a small group of Clinton supporters met with Senator McCain and Carly Fiorina. I personally explained to Senator McCain that women comprise well over half of the population, yet are underrepresented in every branch of government. I asked him loudly and clearly to choose a woman for the VP slot and to increase the number of women in the cabinet and on the Supreme Court. Senator McCain listened respectfully to my request.

(snip)

I respect Gloria Steinem’s right to support the presidential ticket of her choice but she is openly trying to derail Sarah Palin’s historic candidacy. As Madeleine Albright said, “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” I will vote for McCain-Palin. I urge other women to do the same. I might not personally agree with Palin on every issue and I promise to the first person knocking on her door, if Roe v. Wade, or any other legislation that goes against the rights of women is threatened. But in Governor Palin I find a woman of integrity, who not only talks the talk but walks the walk. I can work with that. I will work with that. When I walk down the street, I don’t have Democrat printed on my forehead, but my gender is obvious to everyone and impacts every interaction in my life. Since my country is far from gender neutral, right now for me gender trumps everything else. I urge other women to join me in this fight for equality. Sometimes opportunities occur where you least expect them.

So, basically Sarah Palin is not a ‘woman’ because she does not share their ideas of what a woman should be. Boy, Sarah Palin really challenges the feminism orthodoxy.

The only thing separating Sarah Palin from what these folks say they stand for is the abortion issue.

I wonder if Gloria is aware that everyone, men and women have an X chromosone. Women just have a pair of X. Men have an X and a Y

I also have to add that I actually don’t necessarily believe that Sarah Palain actually knows what its like to worry about being being pregnant when she doesn’t want to be. She believes children are a blessing.

Look at this whopper by Steinem in her anti-Palin op-ed:

“Perhaps McCain has opposed affirmative action for so long that he doesn’t know it’s about inviting more people to meet standards, not lowering them.”

She also calls McCain “a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing”

Oh yeah, the right wing is crazy about McCain-Feingold, Anthrpogenic Global Warming hysteria, open borders and illegal alien Amnesty just to name a few.

John McCain was not my first choice or even fifth choice for GOP nominee and for months I didn’t think I could force myself to vote for him. And it isn’t his choice of the wonder woman Sarah Palin that made the difference.

It is simply that Obama is UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE as an American President.

Let me rephrase that; Obama is UTTERLY UNTHINKABLE as an American President.

“But in Governor Palin I find a woman of integrity, who not only talks the talk but walks the walk. I can work with that.”

She also has balanced a job and family and has earned the position she is in.

This is opposed to Hillery who has done none of the above. She married her position.

I thought that women like Gloria Steinem fought for other women to be pro-choice? Sarah Palin made her choice to be pro-life. Does Gloria Steinem think pro-choice means only one choice?

I saw a repost of this over at (IIRC) pumapac. I love the Puma’s deciding they will not be the DNC’s quiet little women folk and just do as they’re told by the Obama Overlords.

I think they’ve seen that John McCain isn’t afraid of smart strong women, and I actually feel badly at the disappointment that they will experience if HRC answers Nobama’s booty call to go out and campaign for him now that he realizes his ticket is no match for John McCain & Sarah Palin.

Gloria Steinem doesn't yet realize that there is no longer a Dem party. A quiet fascist coupe has taken place.

According to Hillery and Joe Leiberman back channel gossip ( Pumapac.org), the Dem party is no more.

We Republicans have been very busy with our own primaries and associated issues. We do not generallly realize the tragedy against democracy that Obama has brought down upon the heads of his own party.

I have been reading a lot of posts at PUMApac.org. I have read enough now to know that Blue Dog Democrats think that the Democrat party has been taken over in a leftist coupe organized by:

1) George Soros ( money man, international contacts wealth Islamics)

2) Howard Dean ( twist the Primary/Convention delegate rules to annoint Obama)

3) The leftist Secretariat of the Dem party (Daily KOS, PINKOs, Michael Moore, and all the leftist lobby organizations)

That leaves no place for the real Dems to go, who ARE by far the majority of the Dem party. Those who have not and do not drink the Obama Kool-Aide.

Real non-leftist Dems want Obama to lose the election, and they mean to then neutralize SOROS, fire Howard Dean, and send Obama back to city politics,or better , back to Kenya.

Gloria is hardly being altruistic in these remarks. Both Joe , and Hillery , and all moderate Dems want their party back. And they know if Obama wins, there IS no Democrat party. What Obama's version of the Dem party is, is a fascist Utopian organization, designed to bring about a UTOPIA, and take away the personal freedom of Americans to do it.Orwellian Utopia. No mistake about it. Obama's version of the Dem Party will be called eventually" " The Nationalist Socialist Party of America ( NASPA)".

Jonah Glodberg in his new book ( "Liberal fascism: the Secret Histroy of America's left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning"), predicted the rise of Liberal Fascism in America. And he was , to the Democrats dismay, completely right about it. I'd say that Jonah's book is the most important book any of us could read right now, including Democrats.Gloria Steinem hasn't read it, and doesn't know the real story yet from her own people inside the former Dem party.

I hope Joe Leiberman has convinced moderate Democrats by the millions to go McCain, for they want their party back, and decry the creature that Obama is, and what he has done to their party with his fascist machinations, his muzzling of Hillery's lobby in caucus, Obama's bullying organizers making threats against the Hillery supporters. Why do you think 18 million left the Dem Party. THATS HUGE!!!!!

As an American and as a Republican, I would be honored to help Joe take back his party from these Liberal Fascists.

Gloria Steinem is on the wrong side of the fence. May G_D have mercy on her poor soul.

McCain met with DEMOCRATS!!! I knew we couldn’t trust him.

After reading the article, it seems that this woman may have a big impact on McCain deciding to go with a woman on the ticket.

Actually, women have 46 X chromosomes. Men have 45 X chromosomes, and 1 Y.

A feminist with biology is like a fish with a bicycle.

This is great, it’s like ripping off the fake costume and seeing the evil for what it is. Feminist Steinem or whats’ her head, obviously is a Liberal Socialist first, simply riding the women’s-rights horse to the goal of global socialism. The ACLU is the same, you’d expect or at least hope they would offer up a comment regarding the totalitarian “Fairness Doctrine”. Instead? Silence. Why? They aren’t interested in freedom of speech, or freedom. They want global socialism. Feminists? Global socialism.

Maybe, just maybe, folks who aren’t normally politically inclined will realize what’s going on before it’s too late.

Since the left insists on pigeon holing people by demographics, one could also suggest the only thing Gloria Steinem has in common with a woman is an X chromosome.

Every person is different. For instance, Sarah earned her way into power, and Hillary married her way in. So which is the better example of feminist ideals?

For years feminists have asked that women be able to break the mold, not be held back by myopic social expectations, and be whoever they choose to be. But the ugly reaction of feminists to Sarah has put the lie to this notion. Whatever feminism started out as, its leaders have become bitter, controlling, left wing hacks. They don't like Sarah precisely because she has become independent of what they demand a woman to be with their own myopic social expectations.

Gloria Steinem has always been a total phony.

She is nothing more than a sour-faced, saggy titted, crepey-throated, old commie lesbian.

After ragging patriarchy and marriage for years, she married some poor shlub so that she would have financial security in her old age.

Feminist icon? Bushwah!
