THE mum of the teenage “redneck” who got US Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s daughter pregnant insisted last night: “My Levi’s a good boy. I know he’ll make Sarah proud.”
Sherry Johnston was speaking after it was revealed this week that Palin’s daughter Bristol, 17, is five months pregnant by Levi—who described himself on his website as a “f***ing redneck” who didn’t want kids.
Speaking from her wooden cabin home in the tiny Alaskan town of Wasilla, Sherry defended Levi, 18, saying: “He might have been a bit of a handful when he was younger but he’s now grown up into a caring, mature young man who wants to look after his new family.”
Levi and Bristol are now engaged —and the young oil rig electrician appeared clutching her hand as they shared the limelight with the Palins and Presidential candidate John McCain at the Republican convention.
Sherry added: “Levi has barely ever been out of Wasilla and there he was on TV screens aired all around the world.
“He called me afterwards and said it was the most incredible but frightening experience he had ever had.”
God bless them both.
This kid will have to grown up really fast. I don’t envy him. But I do believe he can handle the pressure. Plus, I’m sure the families and the campaign are supporting him strongly behind the scenes.

Frankly, I was really impressed at the way this 17 yr old kid handled himself in this situation, particularly since he has also been villified and ridiculed all over the country and the Internet. He looked strong and collected at the RNC. He has the makings of a good, tough man. They make a cute couple and I hope all goes well for them.
Hope he's ready.

I’ve seen nothing to indicate that he can “handle the pressure.” He strikes me as an all too typical doofus with no prospects and no future. I frankly wonder if this marriage would have taken place if not for Gov Palin’s nomination. I know that if it was my daughter, this kid would have two strikes against him in my eyes, and I’d be just as happy to see him out of her and the baby’s life.
Did this kid even graduate from high school? Apparently he has no interest in furthering his education. How is he going to support his family? Or will he get some deadhead job in DC?
I suspect that they’ll have a secret service agent riding close herd on him to keep him from doing anything stupid or embarassing, a quiet divorce will take place at some point in the not too distant future, and he’ll fade into obscurity.
I know this goes against the grain, and I’ll probably get intensely flamed. I like Gov Palin, but this kid just rubs me the wrong way, and I’m not going to give him a pass just for politics sake.
I think if they say they are "in love" what other choice than to prove it and get married and raise your child....
I am sure Gov Palin and her husband were not too keen about all this, but they are doing the right thing by supporting the kids..

This kid is 18,At 18 I grew up over night and had lead buzzing over my head.I grew up fast and so will Livi.He has the support of strong people not liberal whimps.He will do just fine.
I just hope they really love each other.Here is an encouraging sign.

You can see it in this photo and they did a closeup shot on tv.. it not a new tattoo .. bottom line these two have been together for some time....
