An adviser molds a tighter, more aggressive McCain campaign By Jim Rutenberg and Adam Nagourney Sunday, September 7, 2008
ST. PAUL: It was what aides to Senator John McCain describe as probably the worst night of his campaign. As Senator Barack Obama claimed the Democratic nomination before a cheering sea of faces on national television, McCain countered with a lackluster speech in a half-empty hall, posed in front of a pea-green screen that became fodder for late-night comedy.
Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser to McCain who worked on President George W. Bush's campaign in 2004, could barely hide his fury in the coming days, as he announced to anyone who would listen that he would personally make certain the McCain campaign would never again embarrass McCain.
"Fun Steve is dead," Schmidt said.

Yea, these guys are CLEARLY in touch with the base. No doubt they listen to Rush and probably take a quick look at EVERY article posted...and then dig into the interesting ones.
These guys are phenomenal.

I would not be surprised if Steve Schmidt is looking here on FR to find some good material to use. The internet can be incredibly intelligent when you get all those minds working together - just look at how quickly they took apart the Rathergate story - a story the professional 60 minutes teams had been working on for weeks.
And sometimes they are just a million monkeys typing on a million typewriters..

re: I think, if it were up to McCain, he wouldnt be fighting.)))
McCain has shut down his cozy little palsywalsy Three Amigos salon now that the media is coming at him with long knives and demanding answers to stupid and nasty questions.
Must have been quite a shock for him. Looks like he's wised up. Good.
Maybe the digs at his party are good politics. I don't appreciate them.

I always said McCain was too nice. He treats others with respect. The problem with Obama/Biden is that they respect no one. Instead of making McCain appear "above the fray" the Media Spin on it is that he's weak. (Similar things said about Jesus, IIRC.)
McCain has just entered the temple and seen the money exchangers and he's made a whip and is going after them. Time to put on the gloves and take the fighter's stance. McCain is not running against gentlemen, he's running against hooligans. You can't expect hooligans to play "fair" and they'll use YOUR call to fairness and equity against you.
Sarah Palin scares the dickens (devil not charles) out of the democrats because she is everything they're not. Instead of wanting to emulate her, they want to destroy her. How intelligent is that?
Upon reflection: Democrats are unintelligent hooligans.
