The President of the University of Illinois, B. Joseph White, and the University Counsel of the University of Illinois, Thomas Bearrows, contacted Kenneth C. Rolling, the former Executive Director of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) and a professional colleague of Barack Obama for many years, prior to the release of CAC records to the public late last month and offered Rolling an opportunity to recommend to the University which records of the CAC held at the University's Chicago campus (UIC) should be restricted from public access....
Somebody should also ping Stanley Kurtz about this...
I just want everyone to know what propaganda crap Ayers was filling the minds of young grade school kids with.
Wouldn't it be interesting to see the emails between the president and other interested parties about this matter? Gosh, I wonder if IL has a open records law of some sort that applies to state funded universities. Lots of states do... :)

“Thus, someone with a 20 year history with Senator Obama was tipped off in advance and in secret by a public University about the interest of a political opponent of the Senator in these public records. The CAC was a non profit corporation organized under the laws of the state of Illinois to serve the interests of the people of Illinois. Of course, Ken Rolling now has no legally cognizable interest that I am aware of in the long defunct CAC. Legally, the successor organization to the CAC is the Chicago Public Education Fund, on whose board sits Obama Campaign Finance Chair Penny Pritzker and Obama supporter Susan Crown.
I am reviewing now the documents that were produced as a result of this FOIA request. As soon as I complete my review and assessment I will post the documents here as well as my conclusions.”
When might this stuff be scanned and put out on the Net? (Never said Obama)
Some key points in trying to piece this together:
-Kurtz contacts the library about getting access to these records.
-Soon after, the library contacts Ken Rolling, former Executive Director of the CAC and Woods Fund board member. Rolling really has no legal authority in the matter as the CAC was succeeded by the CPSF, of which he is not a member.
-The documents are then closed for approximately a week, while Rolling examines the files and compares them to his home files.
-There is never any mention of a deed of gift.
-It looks like the “donor” originally restricted some files and now Rolling was concerned with restricting more. Unreal.
As Diamond writes:
“It is, however, highly unusual to allow someone who once worked for a donor to change the terms of the gift such that the records originally deposited with the University for public review are no longer available. That amounts to a revocation of the original gift and re-gifting the now restricted set of documents to the University. However, for such an action to be valid the individual engaging in the revocation would need both the authority of the donor organization and the donee University. That would not have been possible with respect to the CAC because it had ceased operations and dissolved.”
"He's a regifter!"
Hey...did someone get a tax deduction out of this gift...doesn’t that take it into the public domain????
This is an interesting timeline proposal by Steve Diamond that I found...

Also this book on School Reform in Chicago is available from the Harvard Press. Check out some of the authors-Ken Rolling; Linda Lenz (who tried to defend Obama/Ayers last week); and John Ayers, Bill Ayers brother. To me, Obama just ran in circles with these radicals in Chicago. He’s got multiple accounts of extensive relationships with all these cretins.
bump for later
"...Rolling wrote in his email to Bearrows that he was concerned that additional records should now be restricted from public access. He wrote:
"After reviewing what I believe to be the catalogue/listing of Chicago Annenberg Challenge files, I make the following recommendations. I make these recommendations without being allowed to see the actual contents of the folds. Folder #848 -- titled "Executive Director Search Committee" -- there may be items relating to personnel, possible personnel to be hired, etc. that should be held confidential, and restricted for public access."
Rolling wanted this folder restricted for only one reason: It would show that Obama was hand-picked by Ayers to Chair the CAC.
