Trig Palin's story is safe ground for the Republican ticket
The attention lavished on Sarah Palin's infant son, who has Down syndrome, may help her and John McCain to do what, according to their Democratic rivals, they cannot: connect with voters.

HK Bain was home in suburban Denver last week, hardly paying attention to the television, when he heard a snippet of Sarah Palin's speech to the Republican convention that stopped him in mid-step.
"To the families of special-needs children all across this country," Palin said, "I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House."
Bain -- whose daughter Megan, a high school senior, is one of the more than 350,000 Americans who have Down syndrome -- couldn't believe his ears.
"I clapped as loud as I could," he said. "We need a friend in the White House."
Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain touched on the issue in his acceptance speech Thursday, when he referred to a Pennsylvania couple whose youngest son has autism.
"Their lives should matter to the people they elect to office. They matter to me," the Arizona senator said.

There is a vile email going around that tries to make the case that Sarah Palin was trying to abort Trig on her own, by heavy excercise, snowboarding and the like.My friend’s daughter (who is a lefty Hollywood lawyer) got it from someone and sent it to her mom (a conservative) Those lefties are so disgusting.
I told a friend of mine, who like me has a son with Down Syndrome but was skeptical of what Governor Palin said, that in addition to Governor Palin having a baby with DS, Cindy McCain majored in special ed. I can tell from her reaction, that that really got her thinking as to the possibility what we may really have not just one, but two advocates in the White House.

Good, good, let the smears come. With ever new smear attack against Sarah Palin, McCain/Palin gain a couple of points!
Her formal education includes an undergraduate degree in Education and a Master’s in Special Education from the University of Southern California. As a student, Cindy participated in pilot programs testing Movement Therapy, which is now a widely accepted standard for working with severely disabled children. After receiving her degrees from USC, she began her teaching career at Agua Fria High School in Arizona where she continued her work with disabled children.

And Bridget McCain, when she was a baby, was special needs, also. McCain and Palin not only talk the talk, they walk the walk.
Wait a minute. The LA Times not spinning the story to claim the Palin "cut the special needs budget?" Isn't the media supposed to smear Palin?
God has a wonderful habit of turning what the 'doer' intended for evil to be used by the 'doee' for good. Look at the intent of Joseph's brothers when they sold him into slavery and used the sheep's blood to prove to his father that his favorite son was dead. It took years and years, probably less than a heartbeat in Lord's Time, but in the end the intended evil was to be tremendous good.
Liberals seem to reach a point with most issues where they lose sight of the original situation and begin doing everything they do out of hate and spite. Even when they've reached the point of diminishing returns they will keep on keeping on. It's a sign of liberalism, they don't know when to back off. Venting their own personal vitriol becomes more important to them than furthering the original cause.
I think they were at that point the day McCain announced his choice!
