Obama to Palin: 'Don't Mock the Constitution'

By Peter Slevin

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Sen. Barack Obama delivered an impassioned defense of the Constitution and the rights of terrorism suspects tonight, striking back at one of the biggest applause lines in Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's speech to the GOP convention.

It was in St. Paul last week that Palin drew raucous cheers when she delivered this put-down of Obama: "Al-Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America and he's worried that someone won't read them their rights."

Obama had a few problems with that.

Obama had a few problems with that.

This is a good sign. They say the first step on the road to recovery is to admit you have a problem.

The Obambi shouldn’t be out there doing this - he shouldn’t be responding directly to Gov. Palin’s speech. He could work in a few mentions, here and there, about how he disagrees with what she said, but he seems to be concentrating inordinate amounts of time trying to refute what she said. It only shows that he’s taken it personally and is complaining - which makes him waaaaaaaay too thin-skinned for this business. His handlers should know better; he clearly does not.

Does Obama think the Miranda decision of “reading an alleged offender of the law his rights” is part of our Constitution, and that is should be applied to foreign terrorists?

Who IS THIS GUY?

“Obama forgets that the Constitution is for the people of the United States. Sounds to me that a lot of people forget that these days.”

Not any more. The Supreme Court changed that about a month ago.

"Is Obama actually saying that foreign TERRORISTS have American rights (that our founding fathers set up)?! "

I bet an ACLU could find it in the Constitution, I think it written in there next to the Abortion Clause.

Obama is not just a lawyer; the simpleton was a professor of Constitutional law. And he doesn’t realize that the Constitution does not apply to foreign enemies.

1500 people at Obamas “event”? Palin has that many waiting 3 hours before her events. He’s bleeding badly.

This guy is loads stupider than I thought he was. It's hard to even imagine a Presidential candidate making an impassioned defense of the rights of terrorism suspects.

Goodness he is making it too easy. Why in the world does he keep going after her? He is running against McCain, but you would never know it by his speeches and comments. Every time he, as a presidential candidate, goes after the VP pick of the other party, he rallies people to her and gives McCain a free ride.
