The OTM (Out of Touch Media) has been making a big deal of Palin's statement that we should pray for our troops.
Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God, she exhorted the congregants. Thats what we have to make sure that were praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is Gods plan.
The is been widely misquoted (who would've thought?) to imply Palin implied our troops should be on a task from God. Anybody that has actually spent any significant time in a church would understand she was praying our troops missing was in line with God's plan (not saying that she knew God's plan.)
What they also leave out is our leaders have a long history of this exact type of prayer. Below is FDS's D-Day radio address. Abraham Lincoln was also known to have prayed that the war he was fighting was following God's will. Far from being outside the mainstream, Palin's sentiments are in line with our great leaders of the past.

Republicans pray with concern. The left goes to black churches and speak in black voices to get their attention.
The left is bonkers... leading that pack is the hollywood elitist. Oprah, Whoopie, Barbara Walters, on and on the list goes.
What does it say about the left when they propose that the act of praying for our troops and for this nation is an act to be condemned or at least of a very suspicious nature?
Wow! Praying that God's plan will become our plan. That God would so guide our hearts and minds that what we plan would itself naturally be God's plan. That could indeed be revolutionary. Note to RATS: are you telling us that your plans are NOT guided by the Almighty?

The assumption being made is that we ARE doing God’s will, hence on His mission. Regardless of any assumption, He is the One in control - not any of us mere mortals.
Remarkable. Just think, 64 years ago even a dyed in the wool socialist like FDR actually knew how to pray in a manner that anyone spending regular time at a christian church would recognize.
Fast forward to 9/11/2001. A little less than half of the congresscritters were visibly stumbling over the lyrics to “God Bless America”. You remember - the ones (including the current speaker) that had the panicked deer-in-the-headlights look as they were “singing” (more like mumbling) out the lyrics of a song familiar to people that love the Lord Jesus and this country. The ones that could’nt sing the song? That’s right, the ‘libs - democrats.
I would love to see the presidential candidates, right before the debates, put into a secure, miked up room, and film them them as they sing along (or try to) with the music of God Bless America, with no lyrics, teleprompter, or sheet music to help them. Then play back the footage at the end of the debate.

There’s nothing in the topmost prayer in the article that you wouldn’t hear from a military chaplain. Or many regular clergymen, depending on where you go. The idea that God plays a role in people’s lives and endeavors is likely an alien concept to many Obama supporters, though.
Praying for our troops daily.
An audio is available on the web which is both touching and a powerful reminder of what America was before the Far Left began to censor religious speech out of the public square. It is even more powerful to hear than to read.
Perhaps criticism of Palin will, once and for all, force us to look at who best understood our Constitution--today's liberal judges and Far Left censors, or America's Founders and leaders for over 200 years!

I agree with youo. This controversy is yet another instance that reveals the inability of (some) Americans to distinguish the indicative from the subjunctive mood. S Palin was expressing a WISH —in the subjunctive mood; it was not the case that she is declaring that the strategy IS God’s will. Rather, she is expressing a wishe that it MAY BE God’s will.

“may”,
as in May God Bless America (my home sweet home ... ) :)
NEVER “God Bless America”.
We should ALWAYS ASK Him;
not demand Him to “Bless America”.
