The feeling is familiar. I had it four years ago and four years before that: a sinking feeling in the stomach. It's a kind of physical pessimism which says: "It's happening again. The Democrats are about to lose an election they should win - and it could not matter more."

The hyperbole gets tiresome after a while. Every four years, the Dems. say it’s the most important election of our lifetime, and earth is in the balance, and all that stuff.
Yet somehow we find a way to survive until the next election cycle, which allows the Democrats to make their case to the people again.

Dear World,
Go eff yourself. Whaddya gonna do if we don't behave? You love this empty suit so much, put your money where your collectivist mouth is, and put him in charge of YOUR country.
I'm sure that we'll all sit back and gnash our teeth in angst when your Golden Calf wields all sorts of miracles.
God, I hate meddling foreign busybodies.

This is the same paper that, in 2004, had its readers write to voters in Clark County, Ohio, urging them to vote for sKerry. The responses they got back from Ohioians (and, to be fair, pretty much everyone else in the US) started with “(expletive deleted) off” and went downhill from there.

“Remember, this is a woman who once addressed a church congregation, saying of her work as governor - transport, policing and education - “really all of that stuff doesn’t do any good if the people of Alaska’s heart isn’t right with God”.”
OMG. She said that? It is unbelievable that anyone could utter such a hideous statement, and in front of a camera.
It would be much better if the people of Alaska hated God and got good transport, policing and education.

if it’s the most important election for them then why did they nominate the wimpiest, most inexperience person on the planet (with lots of shady connections)?

Suddenly Europeans and others will conclude that their dispute is with not only one ruling clique, but Americans themselves.
The Britsh, Germans, and French have all elected friends of America to lead their countries since George W. Bush was inaugurated in January 2001. I'd say President Bush, despite a loud annoying minority of leftists who hate him (both here and in Europe), has done pretty well by Europe. And I'm certain that John McCain will do just as well.
