Adding to the very bad day Barack Obama and Joe Biden had yesterday, Biden made a gaffe that was at once understandable and yet defining. Biden wanted to recognize a few people at an event by having them stand up to greet the crowd, and wound up exhorting a man in a wheelchair to do so:

Maybe Joe thought he was Barack, who apparently thinks he can heal the sick.
He will be off the ticket within two weeks. What an anchor he is beginning to be. How predictable.
Ok. What am I missing here... I thought he did a good job recovering his error.
What a doofus! I almost feel bad for Joe. I think after Joe told Chuck to stand up and saw he was in a wheelchair he start to say “Oh shi..., God love ya”.
Joe should have turned it into a Lib plus and said “if we would fund embryo stem cell research Chuck would have been able to stand up.”
Very interesting. Thanks for posting this.
“I thought he did a good job recovering his error.”
I don’t think anyone would really fault Joe. It’s just one of those ‘I can’t believe I just did that’ moments. I have had plenty myself.
No, I would not turn it into a political ad.
IMHO - Biden handled it well. He’s been around, and it’s probably happened before.
Barry will need to be off the ticket too. Who goes first? Barry or Joe?
He actually did do a good job recovering his error. That's because he has to recover from errors everytime he picks up a microphone. Lots and lots of practice.
Being unsure of whether they had established contact, Andy shouted "Stevie? Stevie - can you see me?"
You know, in all fairness I have to say that Joe made amends and was sincere in what he said. He KNEW that he screwed up, and he turned it around rather well I thought.
Say what we will about Obama-bin-Biden but even though I disagree with 100 percent of Biden’s positions, I can’t bring myself to hate the guy.
I bet Obamessiah could touch him and make him rise and walk!
Part of what you are missing is the fact that Biden didn’t already know that Chuck couldn’t stand up, even without seeing him. No research about a prominent state senator that he is going to call on during the speech.
Then, he is clearly looking right at Chuck...
Why does such an experienced veteran keep acting like the newbie?
Paging VP Dan Quayle. Vice President Quayle you have a call on line 1 from the double standard police.
If we end up, when this thread has run its active life, with the same proportion as currently defending one of the most pathetic liberal democrat members of the Senate on a conservative web site such as FR-how in the world are we going to turn this nation around, let alone win an election?
It seemed like an honest mistake, and he handled it well. JMHO.
