N. Korea has quietly built long-range missile base

WASHINGTON North Korea has quietly built a long-range missile base that is larger and more capable than an older and well-known launch pad for intercontinental ballistic missiles, according to independent analysts relying on new satellite images of the site and other data. Analysts provided images of the previously secret site to The Associated Press.

Construction on the site on North Korea's west coast began at least eight years ago, according to Joseph S. Bermudez, Jr., senior analyst with Jane's Information Group, and Tim Brown with Talent-keyhole.com, a private satellite imagery analysis company. Bermudez first located the site in early spring and they have tracked its construction using commercial and unclassified satellite imagery

North Korea is building a second and larger, more capable missile launch facility on its west coast from which it will be able to fire intercontinental ballistic missiles or rockets to put satellites into orbit, according to independent analysts who discovered the site and have tracked its construction using commercial and unclassified satellite imagery.

Great. Now, instead of the missles fizzling and falling into the sea, they can fall on....North Koreans!

N. Korea does this all the time. While pretending to make concession, they secretly do something which can more than make up for their hypothetical back-down. Since their concession is mostly for a show, the net result is that they go one step forward instead of one step back.

Prime example: N. Korea's outsourcing to Syria while 6-party talks were going on in Beijing with the purpose of dismantling its nuclear (weapons) program.

In the end, believe it or not, most neutral observers would have to admit that the Condi Rice position on North Korea (particularly negotiating tactics and concessions) turned out to be not that much different than Madeline Albright.

Only thing missing was Condi's little jig before mass games at the Worker's Stadium.

(but hey, there are still four legacy months left!) Maybe should could pay Chia Pet a visit in the hospital, to the 1/2 of him still alive at least.....
